There are not enough Crying Jordan Pat McCrory memes left for this moment.

Are you sure every vote has been counted though?

There are a few counties left, but the provisional ballots have been overwhelmingly Democratic throughout the entire process. Don't see why that would change now.

If you follow the link and go to "View Contest Details" and then "Results by County" you can see which counties have yet to finalize the results. Those counties are Bladen, Cleveland, Craven, Forsyth, Graham, Lenoir, and Person. In these counties, McCrory Currently leads by 49.29% (164,646) to 48.76% (162,878). Assuming they come in the same as the rest of the counties (Which they won't. Everything points to them being far more Democratic.), there will have to be 62,257 more ballots which makes it a ratio of 62,257:334,051, or 0.18637:1. As I point out in my other thread, in 2012 it was 0.00500:1 (0.18637:1 is more than 37 times that) for provisional ballots. Of course, not all the ballots yet to add will be provisional, but they will not favor McCrory, and even if they do, they will not favor him by nearly enough.

TL;DR: No, but enough that Cooper will not fall below that 10,000 ballot lead.

finally one nightmare over.

if the super-majorities of republicans fall in 2017, this state is finally competetive again.

McCrory has wanted to be a two term governor his entire life. He ran in 2008 to get to this point, but lost. Even if McCrory loses, he may run again in 2020 or be a lobbyist. North Carolina faces a rough 4 years, because Cooper will be one of the GOP's biggest targets in 2020.
You could say he is a loser. Tongue

The redistricting next March will do nothing but further help the state GOP.

well, theoretically the margin could fall under 10k again...but if it holds after all counties have confirmed their numbers, it's game over.

sounds like Durham Recount is happening regardless.....

.@NCSBE member Josh Malcolm (R) says it would be "a travesty" to call what happened in Durham an "irregularity." #ncpol

Sounds like we're heading for a 3-2, party-line vote in favor of a Durham recount. #ncpol
https://twitter.com/RaleighReporter/status/804115364112171008

this state is cartoonish partisan.

edit:

AAAAAAAAAAAAND it's done.....it's happening

well, a few votes could go either way with all those technical problems.

not nearly enough to change the election but enough to maybe push cooper under 10k...and then the state recount is going to come anyway....

The votes in Durham were hand tallied late at night by tired election officials who just wanted to get it done and go to sleep, so it's quite likely that the count wasn't perfect. But hopefully provisionals trickling in from elsewhere will balance out any errors and keep the Cooper margin over 10k. Fingers crossed.

As we wait for Durham's recount (prob next week), 98 of 100 counties have completed their canvass; Cooper's lead sits at 10,256. #NCGov

Tillis says he will not run for re-election in 2020, IF he cannot get his bipartisan Criminal Justice Reform bill passed.

Somehow I don't think he'll hold to that. Still, a rare time I'm finding myself in agreement with Thom Tillis of all people.

I like his style on this. He is a true legislator. He was the Speaker of the N.C. House. He wants to get things done. If he retires in 2020, he could run for N.C. governor and let McCrory run for Senate.

If Tillis is serious about criminal justice reform, maybe he's not actually that bad.
