Good riddance.

Well at least he was kind of decent in the concession and decided to be respectful; that's a +.

So excited to see what Roy can do.

nothing besides symbolism.....as long as the SC and the 2017 election doesn't at least gives him veto power.

Governor of North Carolina has total control over the state and all counties election boards.

Governor of North Carolina has total control over the state and all counties election boards.

correct....but those republicans there, in the end, sided with democrats against mccrory.

hm......on the other side...those boards determine where people are voting and for how long, etc?

Yes they did because the complaints by McCrory were baseless, but this means we could a return to more voting locations.

Let me guess, I suppose they will change these rules during the special election?

Finally! What is it about the NC GOP that makes them so hackish compared to their neighboring states??

Swing State Republican Parties, for some reason, embrace the most radical elements of conservatism - I mean there are more moderate Republican leaders in the Dakotas (Hoeven, the Microsoft guy), Tennessee (Alexander, Haslam), South Carolina (Haley), Mississippi (Cochran), and even Georgia where Nathan Deal vetoes the occasional insane bill.

My point exactly. SC and TN, while I have no interest in living there, seem competently run from a center right perspective.

I'm disappointed by the results, but a major thank you goes to Governor McCrory for never stopping to fight for conservative values when it would have been so easy to cave into the pressure of the left!

And he deservedly got booted by voters for his "valiant fight". Yes!!!!. The FIRST NC governor to lose reelection since it became legal))))

FWIW, Buck Newton also conceded to Josh Stein for AG today.

The only statewide candidate yet to concede is Chuck Stuber, who trails Beth Wood for Auditor by 5,993 votes.

You can argue here that the NBA indirectly put a governor out of office.

Finally, the North Carolina government has become just a tad bit less disgusting.

After all the last minute steps, I'm not so sure that's accurate.

So the NC Dems had a full Democratic sweep of the statewide offices?

What? Republicans won 6/10.

Wait, there's 10 elected statewide offices in North Carolina? Jeez. I only knew about Governor/LG, AG, and Auditor. Huh.

^ Yeah, Republicans netted two statewide offices:

GOV: DEM GAIN
LG: GOP HOLD
AG: DEM HOLD
SOS: DEM HOLD
TREASURER: GOP GAIN
AUDITOR: DEM HOLD
INSURANCE COMMISSIONER: GOP GAIN
AGRICULTURE COMMISSIONER: GOP HOLD
LABOR COMMISSIONER: GOP HOLD
SUP. OF PUBLIC INSTRUCTION: GOP GAIN

Except for Treasurer, the other two GOP gains were very close. Still, I was pretty shocked that they gained Superintendent of Public Instruction.

McCrory's decision to govern as a right-wing ideologue as governor always bewildered me.
