10-15 minute drive for me. I'm horrified by how much time some people must spend just to get to work.  It must be very hard for them to get any non job related stuff done.

15 miles.  Fortunately I go out of town in the morning and back in at night so the commute is far shorter going opposite of rush hour.

9 miles each way.  It takes about 25 minutes to get to work, and about 30 minutes to get home.  I've cycled a few times, but it's nearly nearly an hour each way by bicycle so I don't do it often.

Roughly an hour each way (although about half of that is walking).

Substantially longer when RNV decides to re-route half their lines for construction and NOT PUT UP REVISED GODDAMN MAPS.

A little less than 20 minutes. I always try to leave at least a half hour before my shift begins though.

30 minutes one way to school.  It's about a 20 mile commute if I take I-240 and a 17 1/2 mile commute if I take SE 29th St.

It takes about 14 seconds to get out of bed to get to my computer, so that.

It takes me about 15 minutes to get to school via car, and a half hour via school bus.

The 'hood.

I used to live on 119th St between Morningside Drive and Amsterdam Avenue.  I walked to work every day back then as well.  Ran into Al Sharpton a couple of times.

Roughly 10 minutes by car to school (today's method), 25 by bike (freshman year), or 75 on foot (sophomore year). That's each way.

The commute to work is 3.2 miles for me. The average travel times - counting traffic and stop lights - are about 70 minutes on foot, 50 minutes by bus, 20 minutes if cycling (preferred), and 8 minutes carpooling.

About 30 minutes. Small beans by Houston standards.

It boggles my mind that there are people around here who will commute an hour and a half to work each way between downtown and some back-of-the-beyond exurb like Sealy, never see their kids during the week and stubbornly insist they're "living the dream." They complain about how property values and taxes are supposedly so high inside the Beltway but have no problem spending $250+ a week on gas for the King Ranch Ford F-150 they use as a daily driver.

Seven miles (unless you're with my insurance company, in which case it's under 5) and roughly 15-20 minutes.  No interstate.  My dad would do the drive from the Northshore (suburban New Orleans) which meant driving across water and swamp for 25 miles, don't know how he did it.  Lawns and commutes were sort of a thing of stature with that generation.  Maybe it still is, I don't really chat with the far suburbanites on such things.

About 4 miles as the crow flies, about 15 minutes on public transportation and 15-25 minutes via taxi.

Well there's basically an unwritten rule that white people can't live in New Orleans unless they're college kids, artsy bohemians or Garden District rich folks.

50-55 min by subway and, yes, shuttle boat. Sometimes I cycle back and it's around 35 min.

Earlier this year, while living in Metz, it was 4 min on foot. The good old days...

yep.  I was thinking the same thing as I posted that I have a 9-mile drive each way.  I remember the three years I lived three blocks from my office, and the five years I lived with a ten-minute bicycle ride.  Ah, well, we make various decisions for various reasons.  I could live within a few blocks of work, but the public elementary school that my son would attend might have 19% of its students on reduced-price or free lunch, compared to the 7% of the students falling into that category at my son's current elementary school.  You have to think about priorities, and priorities change constantly.  At 20, they're one thing.  At 30, they're entirely different.  At 40, they're different again.  I'll assume that at 50 and 60 they become different and different again.  Eventually we'll all end up in South Florida with a five-minute walking commute to the nearest bingo game.  Then again, by the time you get to be on the verge of packing it in, South Florida will again be reclaimed by the rising sea level so that bingo game might have to be played in Central Florida.

A 20 minute walk, or a 10 minute walk/free bus ride.
