Alas no, as a libertarian for state office though he'd probably get 8-10%

Definitely not, though I could see someone like him getting elected locally or statewide.

Nope; too conservative for most NJ voters.

He is just too far left for the state.

Probably, although he's not the best fit for the state, I could see him losing it to a socially liberal/moderate Republican.

Against almost any generic republican, he wins.

As a socially liberal atheist, he could lose Oklahoma.

Nope; too conservative for most NJ voters.

Actually, looking at Maxy's PM scores; he's not all that different from Goldwater, who I said was moderate enough to have a shot at winning New Jersey. He's also more socially liberal than Goldwater, which (unfortunately) would actually make him MORE likely than Goldwater to win this state; not less.

So, I'll say this: Both Maxy and Goldwater would lose my state under most circumstances, but would command a higher percentage of the vote than most GOP candidates usually do and would have a shot at winning outright against a weak or socially conservative Democratic candidate (the latter of which will probably never exist).
