agree (well, not every, but often enough to notice), but he's not doing it in a bragging way (or at least I don't interpert it as that) and only one of those three things is a negative.

obvious FF though

I do find it hilarious that I caught on almost immediately that Torie is a rich, white, gay male. However, none of those things are bad things, just things he very seemingly holds dear. Tongue

I do find him an exceedingly transparent moderator. I guess that draws ire because it reveals how much "scurrying to the mod cave" is done. Again, that's not inherently bad.

So FF.

I agree with this.

Anyway, Torie has been one of my favorite posters for a long time. I don't enjoy or agree with his obsession with moralizing work, but it would be pretty difficult to argue that he doesn't treat the people around him, including most of us on the forum, with extraordinary kindness.

This ^^^, and I might add that he does provide a well thought out and reasonable perspective to most debates, with which I don't always agree, but it's good to see a seldom voice of reason from the American Right.

Only thing is that I question his partisan allegiance precisely for that reason Smiley

Did Torie shut down the Update? He's not even a mod on this group, I thought?

According to Bushie, Torie convinced him to shut it down:

I came to this realization after consulting with Torie and Inks late last night and more importantly via a chat with my girlfriend last night.  I realized that it's no longer just me I have to think about.  I am guarding the heart of someone very special to me.  I need to listen to her needs.  We never talked about the Update thread, but I don't want to have to have that discussion.

An HP vote here just defines you as the HP, rather than Torie.

Anyway, I like him. He's wrong about most things (of course), but he is so in a basically respectful way and seems like a decent person (and certainly acts pretty decently here).

Seriously... the guy is one of the nicest people out there.  There's never been a time I've asked for help and he hasn't gone above and beyond to lend a hand.

He could have a much higher FF% if he'd stop making assertions like "Someone can get a lower health insurance rate if they contract for less than 1 year" or "Regardless of what any news article said, I think the treasury can prioritize payments to investors" and stick to the points for days, despite being repeatedly disproven.

I don't hate the guy or anything (I voted FF!), but it's kinda frustrating to try to have a conversation with a wall, especially in the former example when that's my career and #1 area of expertise...
