In celebration of my 1961'st post, I decided to make this, also on the 22nd, it's the 50th Anniversary of JFK's Assassination. Personally, he's my fourth favorite President; because of his starting of NASA and his handling of the Cuban Missile Crisis. Yeah he was a D-MA, and a liberal, I still like NASA and I like that humanity continued after 1962.

Uh, he nearly caused WWIII. He was a scumbag who philandered across Europe while my poor grandma lived off of a can of ravioli per day in her one room apartment shared with her mother and another family.

Terrible. JFK's disastrous foreign policy led to Khruschev perceiving him as week and thus the Cuban Missile Crisis while he also backed Diem's overthrown in South Vietnam.

most negative of any Dem president since WW2.  nothing redeeming from a policy or personal perspective, unless you can get into the Catholic thing.

FF.  Overrated but a FF nonetheless, during his Presidency, at least.  His biggest mistake by far was the Bay of Pigs.  Far too cautious on other matters, but still with the right intentions.  It's clearly documented that he had, by the time of his assassination, regretted his decision to send "advisors" into Vietnam, and he had actually begun to withdraw them by the time he died.  I frankly don't know why anyone thinks he would've taken the same course of action as LBJ in SE Asia.  I will acknowledge that it would've been harder to pass the CRA, Medicare, Medicaid, etc. since he didn't have the legislative and manipulative skills that Johnson did.  Personal HP, of course, but politically a FF by the time he died.

Still by far my least favorite of the Kennedy brothers, though.

Obviously a man of peace and a "dove" who was super-liberal and the last Great Man (TM) who was President before the CIA murdered him and then the Shadow Government took over America.

Massive FF, underrated in general by people who think they're sage (see the bizarre Woodrow Wilson backlash on the internet).

Yes, it's people who think they're sage who like to attack Kennedy mercilessly.  Just as people who try to defend that racist sexist warmongering dictator Wilson are.

Pretty sure it was Wilson who gave women the right to vote. Smiley And he was, IIRC, also the guy who almost, you know, lost re-election despite being a, er, dictator.

Yeah, and so did Bush. That does not mean that Bush didn't abuse his power.

I don't really think there's much evidence that Bush abused his power and he certainly couldn't be described as a "dictator", regardless of how lousy a President he was.

Wilson's dictatorship came about in his second term.

Probably the most wildly overrated figure in American history. So glad I'm not one of these Republicans that shouts about how JFK would be a Republican these days nor would want him to be one.
