I think it's painfully obvious he's putting on some act.

no.

i dont fit into your typical 'liberal' or 'conservative' box.  it is called thinking for yourself not just going along with your party's rhetoric.

The witch hunt within Democratic ranks here on the Atlas is reaching McCarthyite levels.

It's not about "witch hunts," but when a Democrat claims that the party isn't liberal enough and has a 'Bush for President' logo in their signature, don't you think it's rather hard to take that person seriously?

Very few Democrats/leftists here do.  It's the fact that you advertise your admiration for Dick Cheney, your signature is a Bush 2000 sticker, you think blue-collar workers are HP's, you want to privatize Social Security, you support the Bush tax cuts, and then you turn around and complain about "right-wing Democrats."

bush was much more progressive than obama.

he supported democracy abroad and didnt cut social safety net programs at home.

i dont know what part of supporting military juntas in egypt and drastically cutting food stamps is progressive?

not to mention obama has arguably been the most pro gun president in modern history.

I've always suspected Mitty of having the political spectrum flipped-when he says the Democratic Party isn't liberal enough he actually means it isn't conservative enough, and when he accuses a Democrat of being a right-winger he's actually accusing them of being a left-winger.

So, what about cutting energy/environmental regulations, passing tax cuts for millionaires, endorsing a constitutional amendment to ban gay marriage, vetoing stem cell research, and vetoing SCHIP expansion do you find "progressive?"

Sure, you can argue that Obama isn't "progressive," or "progressive enough," but "Bush was much more progressive than Obama" is an absurd statement.

i certainly agree the gay marriage stance and stem cell veto were very bad.

i have more than a few disagreements with bush.

No, just a right-wing democrat who calls out democrats for being right-wingers (seriously, what's up with that?)

Maybe he has a really bad case of psychological projection.

This quote, however, leads me to believe that he is in fact, trolling:

The one time everyone votes Republican is of course the one time you decide to find party loyalty. Tongue

dollar bill got too 'uppity' for the liberal democrat leadership, so they took him out.  simple as that.

Note that the person he is speaking of was convicted of taking hundreds of thousands of dollars worth of bribes.

if you've been here for ten years you should be allowed to be whatever you want.  such is what made the jmfcst banning such a travesty.

Having been on the Atlas for almost 10 years, I can say Wally has always been this way (difficult to paint into a specific corner or label).

He's definitely not a troll.  I don't care for his anti-religion sentiment, but he provides sensible political views on the issues that don't involve religion.

He's not a troll in the sense that he misrepresents his political beliefs, but he definitely trolls when he name-calls liberals as "right-wing Democrats" when he holds a lot of right-wing viewpoints himself.  And he clearly trolls when he makes fun of Brian Schweitzer's choice of neck accessory.

I don't think he is. There are a lot of Democrats who think the way he does. It's just that it's rare to see the absurdity of such a worldview communicated so explicitly and systematically by one person.
