McAuliffe will likely outperform Obama in Northern Virginia but will underperform statewide overall.

The government shutdown really hurt Cuccinelli here. Government is to NoVa what coal is to Mingo county, WV.

Also I have a feeling many GOP voters who would have normally turned out to vote didn't this time because of the government shutdown. As many Republican voters around here are typically employed as military contractors, wealthy businessman(who relay on government contracts), DoD and related agencies where turned off to supporting Cuccinelli over this.
