Do you have a favourite hymn or set of hymns you like?

I'm currently quite a fan of "Hills of the North, Rejoice". A wonderful, Anglican hymn.

Mine probably has to be "Here I Am Lord."

Probably "Come Thou Fount of Every Blessing". It greatly annoys me that some dude set "Sing a New Church" to those lyrics.

I'll have to go with the post-hardcore Brand New-esque version of "All Creatures of Our God and King" my church does.

So 'All Creatures of Our God and King' then? Or does it loose something when people use pesky church organs?

Too many to choose from.

Or does it loose something when people use pesky church organs?

My Taid was a church organist basically anywhere he lived for most of his life. I remember watching him practice when I was little (somehow you never heard his feet on the pedals even though he was normally not light on his feet). Extraordinary pieces of technology, and a good one is an amazing instrument when played properly. Anyway (and slightly back on topic), he hated the ubiquitous Myfanwy (which isn't a technically a hymn, but is generally sung as one) for its ubiquity.

Dunno, never listened to it with organs. I don't listen to that type of music.

I also happen to be an organist, and I am insulted by how anyone can prefer hymns accompanied with a rock band than the glorious King of Instruments! Kudos to your Taid! Organists are becoming few and far between.

I'm not surprised, but just remember that this is the type of instrumentation and vocals for which 'All Creatures of Our God and King' was composed in the first place, you know.

I'd be willing to listen to your church's version and see what I think if there's anywhere I could find it online.

It's based off this version but the arrangements are a bit different, reminds me of Deja Entendu-era Brand New.

As a kid I enjoyed the uplifting songs that were fun to sing, if they had a part where the baritones got to sing a bit on their own, much the better.  I'll Fly Away is the only I can remember.

I like many hymns, but It is Well With My Soul and Have Thine Own Way, Lord (we sing the German versions of these hymns, of course), are among my favorites.

Not bad, but I've always preferred Avinu Malkeinu.

I have a great many favorite hymns, too many to list here, but I'll include a few:

In the Garden
Great is Thy Faithfulness
What Wondrous Love is This
In Christ Alone
How Deep the Father's Love for Us
Lord, I Lift Your Name on High
Beneath the Cross of Jesus
All the Way My Savior Leads Me
The Ninety and Nine
My Faith Looks Up to Thee
The Wonder of It All
There is a Quiet Place
Father Lead My Day By Day (any tune)
And Can It Be That I Should Gain
There is a Fountain
Fill My Cup, Lord
O How I Love Jesus
Going Home (from Dvorak's New World)
Sweet Sweet Spirit
My Maker and My King
Come Ye Sinners (Come Ye Sinners, Poor and Needy)
Jesus Paid It All

I also have a soft spot for Down To The River To Pray, especially Alison Krauss' rendition.

I'll pick 10 to have a nice round number:

And Can It Be That I Should Gain?
There is a Fountain Filled with Blood
O For a Thousand Tongues to Sing
Jesus Paid It All
My Song is Love Unknown
Love Divine, All Loves Excelling
Before the Throne of God Above
Arise My Soul, Arise
Oh the Deep, Deep Love
Come Thou Long Expected Jesus
