Article.

I didn't even know Lowden was running for office again. Well, apparently she's running for LG as incumbent Brian Krolicki is term-limited.

Lowden still has more than 500K worth of debt from her 2010 Senate campaign:

At the very least, we should have a fun primary to watch here. Dean Heller backed her opponent, State Senator Mark Hutchinson.

With the recent Obamacare trouble, maybe Lowden's "Chickens for Checkups" message will fare a bit better?

Ralston had an excellent takedown of her a couple of months ago. Hutchinson is the NVGOP's guy and Sandoval's heir apparent. Hutchinson becoming LG gives Sandoval the option of challenging Reid in 2016.

This article is a great cheat sheet for keeping track of all the candidates running in NV for statewide, federal and legislative seats.

The other interesting downballot race is a potential dynastic duel between Miller and Laxalt.

Speaking of which, Lowden let that cat out of the bag. "We have our future AG candidate, Adam Laxalt, here..." Question for Nevadans: related to the LG race? Miles' article said Sandoval would quickly endorse whoever ran, but Laxalt appearing with Lowden is strange.

I'd like to see Sharron Angle run again, her first run was such pure comedy.

She is in the high single digits amongst Republicans as I recall. Her primary victory last time was the result of Lowden faltering at the right time and the Tea Party Express interveening in the last few weeks=. Same thing happened in MO 2012, only with the Democrats providing the last minute funding surge and a mud fest as opposed to an implossion taken down the previous frontrunner.

Ralston notes that Hutchinson will probably raise north of $750k. In order to match Lowden will need to put in her own money, which won't please her creditors. Curious to see what a poll would say, but Sandoval will need to use at least some firepower which would better be served elsewhere. I don't doubt Hutchinson will win in the end.

Who will the Nevada GOP turn to in succeeding Sandoval once he's term-limited in 2018?

Will U.S. Senator Dean Heller (R-NV) consider going for the state's top office if the Senate is boring for him ?

Sandoval's anointed running mate, St. Sen. Mark Hutchison, especially if Sandoval takes on Reid in 2016 as many (including Ralston) suspect. If Adam Laxalt beats Ross Miller for AG then he'd be another Pub who might move up later. One of Reid's 2 preferred candidates probably won't run, so either the other one or an already-filed Some Dude does. Pubs want to sweep all statewide offices and take the Senate, but Dems have strong AG and LG candidates.

Reid's LG candidate is Assemblywoman Lucy Flores, who has an interesting biography but is very obscure.

The sad thing about all this is that if it weren't for the Tea Party movement, she'd be a Senator now instead of Harry Reid.

Well, in NH, the most elastic state, Hassan is immensely popular and she trails Ayotte. So if Sandoval runs against Reid, it's not sure he will win.

I doubt that having a Dem LG will discourage Sandoval from running against Reid. The Republicans will lobby hard for Sandoval to run against him.

He doesn't want a Dem successor, which is why he's going to the trouble of handpicking a potential Pub one. Reid also believes so, otherwise he wouldn't be sponsoring his own LG candidate and almost certainly planning to interfere in the Pub LG primary on Lowden's "behalf." A preliminary but vital skirmish between party leaders.

I wonder if Reid will quietly help Lowden with her money troubles (via SuperPAC or something) in order to the troll the GOP LG primary and make it easier for Flores?

Going from the establishement "more electable" candidate in a primary for Senate to being the "easier to defeat" candidate the Democrats want to run against.

She would have been a good Senator though and Reid would be retired right now.

Sandoval not wanting a Dem LG to succeed him as governor IF he somehow beats Reid in the 2016 US Senate race isn't anything he should be scared of.

However, in Arizona, when Janet Napolitano (D) resigned from the governorship on Jan. 20, 2009 to become Obama's Homeland Security Chief, that didn't stop then-Secretary of State Jan Brewer (R) from ascending to the governorship to take over.

Arizona went from Evan Mecham (R) to Rose Mofford (D), who would have easily won back-to-back full terms in 1990 and 1994 if it wasn't for her health problems.

Former Washoe GOP chair Dave Buell has filed a FEC complaint against Lowden for failing to report $77k in debt, H/T Ralston. Surely she could self-fund or fundraise out of all this crap?

Dems helping Lowden with you guessed it, a chicken. She and Hutchison both have spotty ideological records in past decades, but they're still trying to smear each other regardless.

Does anyone know who the Nevada Democrats are putting up for the Lieutenant Governor's office ?
