Someone should do an updated poll.

How is Christie tied for the lead? His record is a joke. He makes Perry look successful.

I know,I live in a GOP-heavy area of NJ and almost everyone I know likes Christie and for almost all of them the reasons are either 1) he's "bipartisan" or 2) how he handled Hurricane Sandy. Any governor with half a brain could handle hurricane relief, and the only thing he's really done for us is act like an arrogant dickbag when we ask questions he doesn't like at town halls.

Walker will be doomed when the Democratic Governor of Minnesota publicly compares Minnesota's economic record since 2010 to Wisconsin's.

And Christie will likely go down in scandal.

Less people will remember Bush, so if they can get past his heresy on immigration and his last name, he might have a chance.

Jindal... Maybe. Perry was a joke last time, and his state's low unemployment rate didn't change anything. Kasich could have a good record if he could articulate it charismatically.

Walker, both economically and in terms of what he has accomplished in the state (at least for primary voters and donors).

I look forward to President Perry then.

Perry has his own problems that make him unelectable. Walker's whole shtick is "look at how I fixed Wisconsin and saved it from the EEEEVIL unions". Plus, when you have a neighboring governor who can go around pointing out how his state is clearly doing better than Walker's without the drastic tactics Walker stooped too, it defeats the "I created jobs and fought unions" talking point. People dislike unions because they think the unions cost them jobs and comfort. If it can be proven that you can get as comfortable a recovery and more jobs as a friend to unions rather than a union-buster, then they don't have as bad a view of unions and states that like unions.

Plus Dayton could very well be a VP choice.

Definitely Jeb Bush.

Taking unemployment into account and the fact that Christie may have a death on his hands now... Bush.

That's not happening. I like Dayton but he would be a terrible VP pick. Much better at governing than at campaigning. Poor speaker, not a natural politician, makes Tim Pawlenty look like Mr Excitement.

Gubernatorial (and legislative) records are pretty much irrelevant to a winning campaign. Nobody really knew what Jimmy Carter did as governor of Georgia. Bill Clinton's record was considered fairly ambiguous given the poor state of Arkansas. George W. Bush was a constitutionally weak governor best known for executing people. Mitt Romney ran against his own record twice. I guess Dukakis did benefit (in the primaries only) from the "Massachusetts Miracle."

Christie and Walker will run, if they run, on getting elected in blue/light blue states. Bush will run on being a Bush (which is enough for some people) and being the "grown-up", Hispanic-friendly establishment front-runner.

Here is one metric....Unemployment (as of August 2013 for all the current govs and in 07 for Bush)

NEW JERSEY    8.5
OHIO    7.3
US AVG 7.3
LOUISIANA    7.0
WISCONSIN    6.7
TEXAS    6.4

FLORIDA (07) 3.5 (US avg 4.6)

The fact that he left office before his brother caused sh**t to hit the fan should not be a plus.
