I build my own.  It is half the price, twice as fast, doesn't have all the crap software the manufactuers build in for idiots, and looks great.

Desktop: Two custom-built. One an independent computer guy built (1998), and one that I configured and ordered the parts to that a local place built (2003).

Laptops: Dell (2000, I think) and Gateway (2003). Hopefully, another Dell soon.

Desktop: used to have a really old one but it's sold

Laptop: Compaq Presario (1998) -- with Windows ME and no CD burner (just read); this thing is almost dead, HP Pavilion (2004)

I'm slowly but surely saving up for an Apple PowerBook (15 inch).  When I get it depends on whether or not I blow some of my savings on books and DVDs first.

IBM Thinkpad R40 Laptop.

Northern Michigan University provides laptops for the students (at a price, of course, but it's paid as part of tuition), and we have the option to buy it when we graduate, which I did.

International Business Machines.

The real thing, baby.  Smiley

(actually it's my wife's)  I'm much cheaper and mine is some knock-off brand that has, at its core, an AMD athlon chipset processor.  I think I bought it from Farook and Zahir's of Melville, Ohio.  On line.  Needless to say, it hardly ever gets used, since I usually use my old lady's IBM.

At the moment, I'm at work.  We all have gateways.
