Now we have word on one of the independents:

Key independent Geoff Brock indicates leaning toward Labor to form next government

So we're definitely looking forward to a Labor minority government.  Haven't yet heard news regarding the other independent, though....

Well yes, 24 votes makes them the Government, I'd be very surprised if Such didn't side with the ALP to have a fairly stable Government... if Such went with the Libs that would make 23-23 on the floor with one as the Speaker ie... nightmare scenario.

I thought Brock would side with Labor (assuming he does), considering his voting record as member for Frome.

Such? I wouldn't be surprised if he does a 2002 and abstains from the confidence vote altogether.

Geoff Brock will support an ALP minority Government. Imagine this outcome 9 days ago.

Reports are indicating than Such (the other independant) took a sick leave, which could last months.

Wierd and suspicious.

Such is taking sick leave, he was diagonosed with prostate cancer back in 2005, but his current illness is unknown Sad Hope he gets well soon.

And I figured Brock would side with Labor. No doubt a blow to my side, but here's two other ways of looking at it:

  • A 23-23 deadlock wouldn't be too good.
  • This could be a blessing in disguise for the Liberals - they have a good chance of winning in 2018.

Also, Brock has taken up a ministry in the government, namely the Ministry of Regional Development.

Ugh. Never good to get cancer, hopefully he will get well.

At least, it's prostate cancer, which has a very good survival rate, unlike many others.

Now that we know the future make-up of the lower house (or the House of Assembly), what were the election results in the upper house, namely the Legislative Council?

36% for Liberals, 31% for Labor, 13% for Nick Xenophon Team, 6% Green, 4% Family First, 2% United Palmer, 1% Shooters and Fishers.

No seats results yet.
