What's their reasoning for supporting the primary challenger; do they just not like Abercrombie?

The old school Asian faction of the Hawaii Democratic party has never liked Abercrombie, e.g, Inouye tried to get Hanneman into the primary against Abercrombie in 2010.

Huh. Coming from a very white state like Utah, I don't understand ethnic politics, though I do like diversity within politics.

Same, except in my state we have a lot more women in politics.

FTR, I think voters will come home to Ige, but if Hanabusa went for this seat instead of the Senate, I'd support her. Her hawkishness is nearly irrelevant as Governor.

Yeah, she's pretty hawkish. TBH pre-2010 Hanabusa kind of reminds me of you.

F**k Mufi Hanneman (R-HI)

I support Abercrombie, but wouldn't mind Ige as governor either. I support Schatz on ideological principles. Mercado Kim is not a good Democrat though, let alone representative
