Months ago I did some digging into this race, and even the local media is projecting that the Democratic Primary will decide Hawaii's next governor. Abercrombie is unpopular and Ige is virtually unknown. When you go from riding an anti-conservative wave (As widely unpopular two-term Republican Linda Lingle was term-limited) to a 58% mandate to losing and ending up as a one-termer, that's pretty bad.

Then again, Lingle herself went from being re-elected with 62% of the vote in a big Democratic year nationally in 2006 to losing her Senate race in 2012, with Democrat Mazie Hirono winning 62% of the vote.

I quite honestly think that Abercrombie is going to be a one-term governor either way. He's either going to lose to David Ige and the Governor's Mansion stays Democratic, or he's going to win the primary and lose badly to Duke Aiona. I'm hoping for a primary loss.
