I know, no poll. But thought this is individualistic to you, so why not put it here. Also, even if you slightly disagree, put them down here. I'm going to use this this list of issues from ontheissues.org, but you can use different lists as well. Do multiple parties if you want (like myself). So if your a liberal, you can do the democrats, greens, and socialists if you like.

http://www.ontheissues.org/Issues.htm

Libertarians:

Immigration
Abortion (only slightly)

Republicans:

Abortion
Same-Sex Marriage
Drugs
Civil Rights
Crime
Principles and Values
War and Peace
Foreign Policy
Electoral Reform (additional)

Constitution: Pretty much same as Republicans

I disagree with the Democrats' application of foreign policy (voting for wars) as well as the PATRIOT Act, and not being proactive enough about social issues as well as taxing the rich.

With my faction? Senate "reform" and campaign finance mostly.

This, though if pressed the average Democratic voter is a bit left of the politicians they vote for (even if they don't know it).

GOP: Everything but abortion, gay marriage, and school vouchers. I'd probably be a Blue Dog if I lived in the south.

Conservative Party of Canada:
  • Crime/Drugs
  • Pensions
  • Electoral Reform

I am, but my political position is the same as the Canadian Tories; "It's a dead issue and not worth opening again."

Corporate taxation?

As for me, I'm in agreement with the LP on the vast majority of things. That said, I've met individual members who were far more radical then myself.

Difficult to say depending on which faction of the Democratic Party I belong in, but I disagree with most of the American centre-left's stances on abortion, nuclear power, free trade, and on a more general level on the issue of the need for a national identity/community based on the values of Western Civilization.

I've got no party to disagree with but the "ethical socialists" of Labour in the UK and yesteryear's SPD in Germany seem closest to sharing my liberalist-socialist synthesis. These are the stances of theirs most disagreeable to me:

  • General emphasis on social interests and needs over those of individuals
  • Neo-corporatism, i.e. tripartist coordination of labour, management, and state
  • Bureaucracy-intensive welfare policies and, later, acceptance of "workfare"
  • Excessive nationalization and later, ironically, too much private contracting
  • Advocating regulation-tempered forms of capitalism rather than market socialism
  • An often conservative, retribution-oriented attitude about criminal justice
  • Anthropocentrism in reaction to many environmental and animal rights dilemmas

Democrats
Abortion, gay marriage, assisted suicide, drug legalization, prostitution, affirmative action, minimum wage increases, fair trade, corporate taxes, carbon tax/cap-and-trade for carbon/global warming policy in general

Republicans
Death penalty, immigration, role of government, most fiscal policy, most monetary policy, deficit/debt reduction, most foreign policy, alternative energy/oil policy, healthcare, flat tax

I'm sure there are others I've forgotten.

Yeah you can throw that one in as well.

So your back firmly in the anti-camp again? You also seem to have forgotten your own signature Wink "The greatest thing you'll ever learn is just to love and be loved in return." P.S. No marriage for you!

Anyhow, I would say I disagree with the Tories on their intent to police the internet and their freezing of civil service pay (the last one from a purely personal perspective) I'm surpised by how little they have done that has actually rubbed me up the wrong way.

This, but also I'm opposed to the MSNBC/Democratic pundits being so anti-Mormon (or perhaps I'm just opposed to Lawrence O'Donnell). I'm happy with leftism, but the anti-Mormon stuff just grinds my gears.

Have to agree with this even though I'm not Mormon. I've seen quite a few latte liberal types vow to never vote Mormon.

I'm pretty party line when it comes to the UK Conservatives. I often disagree with the libertarian wing of the party, especially on drugs and foreign policy. Although I don't disagree with party wide policy per-se. I would prefer the Tories to be much more right wing though, but alas, coalition.

Abortion, gay marriage, and marijuana. I'm sure there a few more, such as some religion related social issues, but those are the three big ones.

Just look up "Lawrence O'Donnell Mormon" on youtube. He seriously hates all Mormons. Even Pat Buchanan is all "whoa you're going too far" in one of the videos.

Thankfully on MSNBC, there's also Melissa Harris-Perry, who is probably the nicest ex-Mormon I've ever seen.
