$50-$60, I believe.  $20's, $5's, and $1's.

The Real American still speaks!  What do you plan to do with that wonderful Real Cash Money?  Take that nice girl out for a date?

No doubt about that!

one $10 bill, 4 $1 bills, bank debit card, American Express card, MasterCard card, Starbucks gift card

I also carry a small Gerber knife in my pocket, so I guess in theory I could rustle up some more money if I were especially daring and ruthless.

Ugh, the cashless and near-cashless disgust me.  You guys should use cash instead of that nasty debit.
To the contrary. Cash changes hands constantly and quickly becomes soiled with bodily oils excreted by fingertips. Cloth money is nasty!

Precisely!  If your money don't stink it isn't money.  Filthy lucre!

Hooray!  You dared to speak.  My brave hero.

Haha, cute.  But here I almost never go through a check out line or see a cash register, and the coins are a little more rational.

In practice no one uses satang, the smallest one in common use is the one baht coin - about 3 cents.

10 Baht coins pass for 2 Euro coins in some of the less sophisticated vending/ticket/etc machines. I've received one for change once, and passed it on the same way.

That's Alberto Giacometti, a Swiss artist and sculptor of the 20th century.

However, he won't appear on that banknote for a very long time anymore because a new series of banknotes will be released in two years or so (whenever the National Bank has solved the remaining security issues). The new banknotes will look almost creepily colorful:

$183.

NYC requires a lot of cash.  A lot of bars and restaurants here don't take cards.

Nice set of new Swiss banknotes.

They almost look like chocolate wrappings ... Wink
