WARNING: SPOILER POTENTIAL

It's been a day, and no thread from BRTD on probably the biggest Family Guy event... and I don't even watch the show.  I'm truly shocked.

I won't come out and say what it was, so you can go look it up if you haven't heard already, but I'm never a fan of when TV shows do this just to do it to shake things up.  It seemed pretty unnecessary here.

I watched the episode (first time I've watched a new Family Guy episode since they did those Star Wars parodies). It was horrible. What a miserable show.

Yeah, this was the first piece of news I saw when I woke up today and that kinda set the tone for the rest of my day Tongue A terrible decision on the part of Family Guy, IMO.

His name is mentioned in several episode titles later in the season, and he is mentioned as interacting with a future guest star, so unless these episodes are flashbacks or he is replaced by another character of the same name, it looks like he's going to stay dead for a couple of weeks then come back to life.

This story makes it sound like it's permanent.

The reason being is that Family Guy has never been one for continuity and perhaps its biggest weakness is it's often full of plot holes and episodes that contradict others. So this probably doesn't mean a whole lot in the long run.

And because I don't really care about plot when I watch Family Guy. I just like to see how many funny gags they can cram in from out of nowhere.

That episode of Family Guy must have been the only one where I cried for at least half of it (Yes, I'm pretty emotional).

I just.....wasn't expecting him to be the one. I didn't just like Brian for his Democratic views, but he made fun of Peter better than anyone on there and I LOVED all of his adventures he had with Stewie.

I'm not going to join the Anti-Vinny bandwagon because I'm willing to give the new dog a shot, but nobody will ever replace Brian and Seth MacFarlane screwed up big time with this. Family Guy will lose even more viewers than it already has and it will eventually go down the same, dull path as The Simpsons did.

One more thing, WHY COULDN'T MEG DIE?! Sad Sad Sad

I was also wondering this lol

As for the death...it was...shocking, to say the least. It's not unlike Family Guy to pull shock gags and be evil about their plot sometimes, but this was absolutely not the right way to achieve that. Don't get me wrong, I think Brian will be back. I have a hunch that "killing him off" was just a publicity stunt. Remember, Stewie has a time machine. There is an easy fix to bring him back.

I usually keep you on ignore but some posts are just annoying enough

1. Seth MacFarlane did not write the episode. He basically has nothing to do with the actual creation of the show, sans voice recording.

2. Family Guy was already heading towards a Simpsons-esque death.

3. It was a cartoon character. No need to become depressed over his death. And no reason to have cried for half the episode, despite how emotional you might be. This is not out of the ordinary for Family Guy. They crave attention so badly that they wrote in a major character's death. Big deal.

I was waiting for a thread about them going to Italy. Apparently, there were Soccer references! (I haven't watched a new episode of the show in a long time.)

If that happens, which it might, it'll be because the audience is just BRTD clones who can't understand story points or subtlety. If anyone though they should have killed Chris, the only truly useless character on the show.

It's worth noting that the Brian-Stewie relationship was the only redeeming part of the show.

Cleveland has/had the charisma of a pile of dead leaves. Brian is interesting.

Yeah, no, it's a hoax.

I just read the Wiki article.  Apparently Cleveland comes back in the next season.  This show is definitely on its last legs.
