Mechaman immediately comes to mind, but my first impressions of posters here have generally been pretty accurate.

Al/Sibboleth for sure.  Other than that... um... dunno.  The opposite movement is far more common, alas- guess I'm too much of a curmudgeon deep down.

None really, which is pretty sad on my part. I think 92% of posters here are great (even when I harshly disagree with many of them), and my opinions of those 8% or so hasn't changed much. I do very much appreciate the effort of election update type posters (people like RogueBeaver and Miles) and the work they do, thus my opinion of people like them has gone up over time, but not necessarily grown on me, as I liked them in the first place.

There are a few that remind me of fungal infestations, but I shall decline to name them.

Ernest, "ghost_white", Kitteh, all have something original to say at different times. as do bedstuy and traininthedistance (I still can't differentiate the two of them very well). DC Al Fine is the lone intelligent reactionary we've had in a while (unless you count Sam Spade, but his brand of reaction was more motivated by hatred of 'underprivileged' groups than anything else).

Trondheim / "Laloo Prasad" is one of the few best posters in Atlas history and isn't treated as such.

Al and Gully Foyle have actually declined in standing in my book since they became fully enmeshed in academia, and have this faux-dispassionate air of detachment about them.  though Al has gotten better over the past three months, actually engaging and taking chances instead of sniping righteously from the sidelines.  we should be happy to have both of them, in any event.

that's funny because tbh i find you much less annoying than i did awhile ago. although that was more because of one of those phases you were going through i think. idk.  and yes i agree al has significantly improved in general lately.

I'm generally the reverse: I tend to have a favourable opinion of new posters until they prove otherwise.

Barfbag. No others, really. There's only one real poster who I've started off hating from the first post.

Quitting Atlas or quitting academia? Any unique voice that leaves the Atlas leaves a hole, some larger than others. Your hole would be large enough to pass a significant bratwurst.

Lol. Academia of course. I can't quit Atlas it's more addictive than crack*.

(*- this is based on no actual experiences of smoking crack)
