BRTD could win if a few advisors convinced him to keep quiet.

Not too hard actually considering what my job is. I'm actually far more restrained in real life than Bachmann is considering how many ridiculous outbursts she does have. And my views are more mainstream.

you'd have to rack up on Bachmann in suburbs.  could you take a shot or two and say some nice things about suburban families?

I'd give the standard Democratic candidate stuff about "hardworking middle class families" and how I'm the candidate who's going to be fighting for them instead of the 1%.

I think he was saying that Bachmann would win, not that he would vote for her. Look at the poll question.

BRTD crushes Bachmann 494-44. She's just become to toxic to hold states that the GOP would regularly hold in a Presidential year.

I think I'd do better in North Dakota on account of Bachmann being a bad fit and being from there. I'd do better in North Dakota than any Democrat since LBJ.

One should also consider that in addition to having more mainstream views and being less prone to stupid outbursts I'm also an outspoken evangelical Christian and there are plenty of sane evangelicals that would not want to vote for Bachmann.

BRTD by a mile.

For a presidential election (and this is just the Dem floor):

Sen. BRTD (D-MN)/Gov. Andrew Cuomo (D-NY): 405
Fmr. Rep. Michele Bachmann (R-MN)/Gov. Scott Walker (R-WI): 133

Minnesota Statewide Contest:

State Sen. BRTD (DFL): 62.7%
Fmr. Rep. Michele Bachmann (R): 35.0%
Others: 2.3%

That's actually a fairly decent map for a Bachmann vs. Generic D race, so if I'm Generic D here I can see it. But some problems:

-I wouldn't win Carver, and probably not Scott.
-I definitely would not win Rock County.
-Even Brown County would be a tough one.
-I'd get above 50% in Wilkin if I'm doing that well in the west.
-Over 60% in Dakota County is not happening. Too many straight ticket R voters there around places like Lakeville. Even Klobuchar only got about 62% there last year.
-Ditto for Olmsted County. Rochester has a lot of straight ticket Republicans too.

The problem is that the odds are pretty high that Michele has a screw loose. Say what you will about BRTD, but his screws are secured. When you think about it, underneath the cultural affectations no doubt appropriate for his age, BRTD is probably in one of the higher deciles on the normality scale around here. And he is getting more "normal" as time goes by. I'm doing a much better Peter Pan than he will ever manage, poor chap. He's probably going to end up with three kids, and live in Anoka County, and mow the lawn on Saturday morning.

Thank you, Goldie.

I'd vote for BRTD, but only if he promises to introduce legislation making a La Dispute song the new national anthem.

Of course you'd have the nation butchered in the name of modernity and what's currently popular.

La Dispute is popular? This is news.

Fine, we can compromise. I'll take a La Dispute cover of Break On Through.

BRTD, are you a libertarian democrat or a populist democrat? It would help me to make a prediction!

windjammer, what BRTD means by this is that he's culturally closer to what it seems to me that you're defining as a 'libertarian democrat', but still reliably leftist (insofar as anybody in the mainstream of American politics is) on things like health care, taxation, welfare, and education.
