Oh, I could try to tell a lawyer joke here, but it probably wouldn't work out. Anyway, in my experience, a disproportionate percentage of lawyers as compared to the general population, tend, shall we put it, to be unpleasant, and well, you guessed it (shocking to some of you I know) - power mad. Tongue

And Happy Thanksgiving Walter!

Ouch! Sorry Walter. For some strange reason, I tend to get the two posters mixed up. My bad.

Like everything other profession: Most good and honest, though some morons, some dishonest, and a tiny share who are both.

People hate lawyers because the entire profession reminds us that people in the world often don't get along, The best description I've heard is "Blaming a lawyer for filing a lawsuit is like blaming a guard for sacking the quarterback".

FF as it's silly to generalise a whole profession.

I believe that the Bard had it about right.

You realize that Shakespeare's statement about "first thing we'll do is kill all the lawyers" is Vastly misapplied, don't you? The character saying this was Jack Cade, a villainous rebel bandit who sought to overthrow the crown for no other ideological purpose than to loot the treasury. He wanted to get rid of the lawyers because they were bulwarks of justice and law standing in his way of his proposed gangsterism. Shakespeare was actually paying lawyers a compliment by inserting that line in his play.

So nyaaa. Tongue

Its rather unbelievable that they're are getting a majority of FF votes at the moment.  Another sign of how different Atlas demographics are from the world at large.  I suppose a majority of forum members are pimply teens who like to pull the wings off insects and plan to go to law school one day.

I as a kid actually, after "immobilizing" them, liked to use one of those magnifying glasses over insects, on a sunny day, and watch the them fry myself. Merely pulling off wings is for wimps. Conflagration, preferably with a hissing sound, as the insect flesh burns up, is where it is at. Good stuff! I indeed, was the Lord of the Flies, or to put it more precisely, the Lord over the Flies, sending them on their own final, yet glorious, Icarian ride. Tongue

As I say, I was naturally suited to be a lawyer, almost from birth. It was as if, almost, God had willed it. He meant for me to be here, to punish you, and then punish you some more, opebo. That, my friend, is the capstone of my career actually.

Obviously. Not as funny as Polonius being quoted as a source of wisdom, however...

If you feel you've destroyed the forum, then I suppose you can be gratified, but honestly I think it was already crippled long before your ascendency.

This thread should be deleted.  Any expression of one's opinion of lawyers will ether be laced with profanities and vulgarities or it will be untruthful.  Both are grounds for receiveing death points, making this the ultimate no-win topic.

Blaming the guard for the sack is pretty reasonable if it's the guy he was meant to block. It depends on the play, of course, just as it depends on the lawyer, but a great deal of sacks are on missed assignments by offensive linemen. Shall I interpret you to mean a great deal of lawyers are worthy of blame? Tongue

Young ones generally have six figures in student loans, work far too many hours for their own good, and face a crappy job market. In other words, they are in touch with the problems most Americans face. The smug old ones who have had life handed to them on a silver platter are obviously grotesque profanities.
