Generally HP. It's unfair to say that they're all in 'yeah, screw those icky poor people as long as I have my weed!' territory, but a lot are.

Might as well say:"I belong to social circles where certain kinds of bigotry are accepted but others aren't!"

Or they vote Libertarian Tongue

Anyway, FF. The people in this thread ought to consider that fiscal conservatives just might have reasons for their views other than a hatred of the poor.

Do people actually call themselves that?   I've heard people call themselves "socially liberal, fiscally conservative" but that's a lot different than "left" and "right."    In either case it's so imprecise as to be meaningless, but still makes more sense than this thread.

Oh, I absolutely realize that, but I think there's often an element of unconcern that goes into the sort of rhetoric being discussed. Again, not always, but a lot of the time.

You mean Libertarians?

Well in that case it's no wonder there's so many HP votes.

Oh I don't think that "fiscal conservatives" hate the poor.  If there is anything that "fiscal conservatives" are guilty of, it's being naive.

EDIT: Okay, obviously people like Krazen and BourbonDemocrat hate the poor, but mostly I would say ficons are naive.

Maybe, but to think they all are (or any specific one) is ignorant and bigoted.

Naturally, anyone that fails to fall completely under the left-wing umbrella is a bigot and a horrible person.

I voted ….

I'm thinking of upper-class social liberals that don't know they have the Libertarian option, or don't want to split their vote.

I don't really see how it's inconsistent. Most people who describe themselves as such either simply want less government in all areas of life, or they just want whatever's good for business. It's fine to disagree with either of those philosophies, but I wouldn't describe them as inconsistent.

Know plenty of them, and they can be nice people, especially when they focus on mocking left-wing economic delusions. Can be rather irritating when they get into a tizzy of gay and abortion rights, as well as over drugs.

So... You're supposed to ignore all other issues and let gay marriage be the only thing that influences your votes? Roll Eyes
