“It’s the reason why I ran for the Senate, [it] is all wrapped up in this battle. I am totally dedicated to the survival of the state of Israel in the 21st century." —Sen. Mark Kirk, 11/25/13

Disappointing, considering Illinois has sent many officials to Congress, such as Henry Hyde and Charles Percy, who were actually committed to a balanced approach in our relations with Israel.

Yes, yes, I highly encourage the Dems to find someone who will run on the "vote him out because he's too pro-Israel" card. That will undoubtedly work out very well for them.

Your sarcasm is correct, mainly because most residents wouldn't know what the AIPAC is, but you didn't really address his point now did you?

Mark Kirk will (very likely) lose, but certainly not because he's too pro-Israel.

Yes.

In fact I seem to recall a very high ranking Democratic Senator from Illinois being pretty pro-Israel.

That the portion of the parties which finds opposition to Israel a good thing is still in the vast minority and unlikely to gain too much traction anytime soon.

It's quite interesting how times have changed right?  There was a time when AIPAC overwhelmingly backed Illinois Democrats who were likely to take a more pro-Israel approach than their Republican colleagues.  IIRC, AIPAC helped Dick Durbin start his political career by opposing his openly pro-PLO Republican opponent.

Not kissing AIPAC's ass doesn't mean that someone is anti-Israel.

He was very Pro-Israel when he was running for US Senate in 2010 wasn't he? I think his former Congressional District has a good amount of Jewish People living there

No, because there are issues far more relevant to Illinois voters than AIPAC which will motivate them to out Kirk.

Considering at least twenty different Senators are saying the same thing at this moment, it isn't particularly surprising.

It seems that, eventually, every moderately tolerable Republican says something that makes me dislike them. Ugh.

WTF does that have to do with anything? I'm assuming these Jews are Americans. If they are Israelis or any other nationality, they aren't entitled to any representation in Congress.

Should Texas's senators declare their reason for holding office is to ensure the survival of Mexico because we have a good amount of Mexicans living here?
