I've been watching the recent polling, and it seems that Christie is the front runner in being the flag bearer of the Republican Party.  Much can and will change in this time, however, and I'm curious as to who our local Republicans prefer?  Hillary is, of course, the candidate that Democrats seem to want (with some exceptions).  But what does the right side of the isle desire?

I like Rand Paul the most (Christie on security issues disqualifies him somewhat), but I'm not super enthusiastic about the field.

I support Christie and Scott Walker. Cruz's style is not my cup of tea, and Rand Paul is just too libertarian for me.

A lot will depend on who runs, but at this point I would have to say Christie, because although I disagree with him on gun control, I agree with him on just about everything else, and he's one of the last decent politicians our party's got right now.

The one I'd be most likely to vote for: Christie (he's the only legitimate GOP contender I'd consider voting for)

The one I'd most want to be nominated so the Dems could win: Ted Cruz. Easily.

Christie is my top choice, followed by Huntsman, Martinez and Bush.

Christie, then a couple of underdog candidates like Brian Sandoval, Susanna Martinez, and Jon Huntsman, and then Walker.

Jon Huntsman would make the best president. I could support him over many of the non-Hillarys.

Paul by far, though Christie, Ryan, Cruz, Huntsman, and Walker are alright as well.

Huntsman (heh. Not likely, I know.) or Christie for somebody I think could be remotely tolerable actually having as President; Cruz for somebody who pretty much any Democratic nominee to the right of Sanders and Warren would win against easily barring disaster or scandal.

Oh, the usual "RINO" suspects. The "perfect one" is, as per unusual, no where on the far horizon. And Muon2 has not told me yet he is running for POTUS. The man needs more ambition!

It would be nice if Portman could have more charisma pumped into him, and if he happened to be a governor, but I digress. Oh, and I like Toomey a lot (granted he has only RINO tendencies, but he'll do). But  not now. He needs to run for re-election, and demonstrate he can get votes Pubs normally don't get, based on who he has demonstrated to be.

Christie, easily.

I like Huntsman, but he's probably not running.

I also have a soft spot for Paul Ryan.

Ted Cruz, because we haven't had a true landslide since 1988.

John Kasich is my top pick right now.

I can easily see him emerging as a more Conservative yet still electable alternative. Particular if we see some real nastiness amongst the top field types like Cruz, Christie, Paul and Ryan, Kasich could emerge late as a party unifier without all the negatives from the brutal primary.

I think that the best guy you have is Jon Huntsman. His message of fiscal discipline, competition across global markets and protecting civil liberties could be really powerful. Huntsman would be that guy that could deal with Democrats on important issues such as Healthcare, Immigration and Taxes. God! If I was an american citizen, I would vote for him =)

Hardly. The stuff that was revealed a few weeks ago I think would be enough to defeat him.

At this point in time, Chris Christie.

Condi Rice would be a great candidate, but there is no way she runs for President.

A Christie/Rice ticket would be my choice, but this would not get the support of the Republican right, which the Republican ticket will need in order to win.

So realistically, a ticket made up of Christie and a moderately conservative, pro-life, respected, experienced U.S. Senator would be practical.

Having such a Senator on the ticket as Vice President would go a long way to off setting Christie's lack of DC experience, much the same as Franklin D Roosevelt and John Nance Garner in 1932, Dwight Eisenhower and Richard Nixon in 1952, Jimmy Carter and Walter Mondale in 1976, Ronald Reagan and George HW Bush in 1980, Bill Clinton and Al Gore in 1992.

I agree with you regarding Chris Christie, although John Hoeven, Lisa Murkowski, John Thune, Mark Kirk, Rob Portman and Shelly Moore Capito are also some of the fairly sane and decent Republicans in office right now as well. I don't see any of them running for President in 2016 though.
