http://www.tavishkelly.com/

I never realized his political views were so far out there. The very idea that Palazzo of all people is getting challenged from the right is mind-boggling.

Having said all that, I'm rooting for Tavish. Palazzo should be tarred and feathered for voting against Sandy relief after all those NY and NJ representatives voted for Katrina relief.

Not to be rude, but he doesn't seem to be very charismatic. Also, considering your friend's views on the debt ceiling, would he be any better on disaster relief?

His website won't load for me. Also, Zioneer makes a good point. Obviously the best solution would be for the district to elect a Democrat.

Is he old enough to be in Congress?  And while there are some places in Mississippi I genuinely like Picayune/Pearl River ain't one of them.  Ugh.

This is your "friend" from college?

You must be a very bad judge of character.

Agreed. But blaming a minority group for Mississippi's general horribleness is a time-honored tradition there.

My college roommate ran for Congress in 2008:

Has there been a Messianic Jew in Congress before, or would he be the first?

That's disappointing. Everything else on the "issues" section sounds good though.

Not to be rude, but he doesn't seem to be very charismatic.
Yeah, he's a pretty nerdy guy, into anime and the like.  Definitely not a typical politician, which is precisely the image he wants to portray.

Also, considering your friend's views on the debt ceiling, would he be any better on disaster relief?
I can't say for sure, but Palazzo's "no" vote on Sandy relief is the single most disgraceful vote of the last 10 years. Yes, all of the "no" votes were shameful, but the very idea that Mississippi's coast representative would do it is inexcusable.

NY and NJ were there for us when Katrina (greatest natural disaster in U.S. history) left miles and miles of this ^, but when they were hit too, Palazzo played politics.  Literally, he should have been expelled from the House and roughed up on the way out.

Tavish's hometown of Pass Christian was completely destroyed.  I simply can't comprehend that he could be equally reprehensible as Palazzo, although if I find out otherwise, I'll certainly recant this post.

Because mental acuity and intellectual curiosity have always been such a draw for getting elected to public office. And in Mississippi of all places.

He has some pretty horrible views but at least he's against the Patriot Act.

I wish him well in the primary.
