I brought this bill to the top of the list because I believe it necessary to find a replacement flag as soon as we can.  To briefly explain the symbols, the bird is a Native American symbol for "bearer of happiness" and the arrows represent friendship.

I don't know if the Native American symbols will be widely understood. I would consider removing them and replacing them with another symbol.

How about this instead?  Fairly neutral, symmetrical, no symbols to explain, has a Southern charm to it, not composed in a way that could potentially offend someone, etc.

Awesome!

I support this flag proposal, and I commend the Speaker for coming up with a proposal that respects southern cultural traditions, quite unlike the travesty that was proposed in the referendum prior.

Hmm....the vote was 5-5 which would normally mean it failed, but I don't think anyone ever really indicated what standards were to be used for the referendum. I just want to clarify: it failed, right?
