Economics, as we know it, started over 1700 years after Jesus was crucified. This is why the modern Republican Party is full of sh[inks]t.

Jesus never had any teachings on economic theory. His teachings were focused upon the actions of individuals, not the workings of a moder, highly complex economy.

The Catholic Church is fundamentally opposed to Marxism, and has essentially always been.

You don't honestly believe Rush Limbaugh (or most Republicans for that matter) has any idea what marxism is, do you?

No, I don't believe Rush Limbaugh has any idea about much of anything remotely intelligent. I was hoping to preempt others on this forum from agreeing blanketly with him despite established history.

It's a shame Jesus wasn't immaculately conceived in Texas, turned water into oil, made mad stacks of cash, and inks the poor.

Good! Let the GOP alienate the catholics again, like in the good old days. Grin More votes for us...

Sorry, poor wording in the OP. Lemme fix this:

Pope Francis is in my atheistic socialist opinion actually a really cool guy, I knew that it was only a matter of time till he said something that really angered the American right.

Good! Let the GOP alienate the catholics again, like in the good old days. Grin More votes for us...

As great as that would be, I can't see that happening enough to make a difference in any elections. I recall reading an article (still can't link anything) about how Catholics felt left out because the pope was focusing more on being inclusive than saying that abortion was wrong or something like that. Maybe the more radical right leaning ones will do what Mel Gibson did and start their own division of Catholicism because the main church has become "too liberal".

On that note, maybe Mel should start his own more extreme version of the Tea Party. That would be great fun to watch.

What interesting, novel thoughts you have here.

Rush Limbaugh is an idiot who knows nothing about the Catholic church or its history.

Rick Santorum needs to declare himself Pope and create a splinter Catholic Church based on the gospel of wealth, opposition to birth control and hating gay people.

I've always thought it would be a great irony on God's part if the antichrist was a conservative Republican "Christian" that the fundies worship.

I iknow when I was super paranoid about the "end times" back in high school... I was very afraid some antichrist figure would come along and I'd like him Angry

It seems the right wing media refuses to be outdone by the leftwing media when it comes to ignorance of the Catholic Church without at least putting up a fight.

I'm still waiting for Francis to apologize for the absurd number of young people who were and are sexually victimized by the Church. If you want a hierarchical organization where you control everyone beneath you, you have to accept responsibility when those people do despicable things. I will continue to have a low opinion of the Catholic Church until it gives the world the apology that it deserves.
