I just think there's little point in using a word if it encompasses Snowstalker's worst rants alongside with posts that are relevant, factually correct and not pompous. This focus on a word as being "sage" is pretty misleading IMO. If I get it right, the word neoliberalism was banned from IRC because of Snowstalker's abuse of it, not because it was a word that should never be used - indeed, the words "socialism" and "fascism" were banned too, does that mean anyone who every uses them is being sage?

Lol wow, they ban words now?

No words are banned. Some were at one point for a gag.

Ok I guess that makes sense. Smiley

I think recently he's showing a degree of social awkwardness; genuinely having difficulties in understanding real life personal and interpersonal interactions. This is coupled with a need to diffuse situations that he doesn't like by resorting to bad puns and non-sequiturs (at times of quite a probing or insensitive nature) which has become increasingly grating.

The only really sagy thing there is that I do bad puns and non-sequiturs all the time, not just in response to situations I don't like.

I like to use non-sequiturs but I think my posts are more savagery than sagery.

Revolution should be encouraged worldwide against the ruling classes in all nations.

It's a shame that the Ukrainian revolution wasn't a class revolt.

Is right-wing sagery possible?

Today, our socio-economic problems are created by incompetent progressive regulators.

Right-wing sage is comparatively rare simply because the comparable rhetoric has been adopted by right-wing political parties to the extent that it can be hard to distinguish partisan bloviating from true sage scholarship - for example, "socialism will of course destroy this country" is not sage, but the comparable "neoliberal hegemony will of course destroy this country" is a clear example thereof.

This means that right-wing sage is potentially more valuable and even more cringeworthy. The quoted post is a sagebomb of Snowstalkersque proportions.

Overall I have to lean towards HI because chivalry is, at its heart, basically for making privileged young men into warlords who are willing to unquestioningly submit and be loyal to authority figures claiming to be in service of a deity's will.

The more FI elements of chivalry promote almost unconditional compassion and generosity, respect for the disadvantaged in society, modesty, politeness, courage in convictions, and personal dedication to achieving moral excellence.

If there is a World War III, why would Russia or China start it? Based on the recent track records of aggression it would almost certainly be the US to kick it off.

I can literally taste the sage:

Unlike Castro, who has directly ordered the deaths of dissidents and opponents, dissent was common in the Confederacy, which was a genuinely free country if you were white.

And male.

And heterosexual, and right-handed, etc.

Thanks for making fun of women's suffrage.

Russian actions in Ukraine are inexcusable and Putin cannot be justified by "but when others did that..." talking point. Yet, there's something really annoying with some suddenly adopting "hollier than thou" attitude regarding current events.

Either you oppose all violations of the international peace, or you're a hypocritical hack, whether it's coming from Sagestalker's or BRTD's point of views.

True Leftists are nothing but bands of thugs and killers. They're proving that now with parroting the propaganda of fellow thug and killer Putin.

Because "progressive" presidents have squeaky-clean records, right?

Shame that Hollywood is dominated today by vapid bourgeois liberals (not to mention the literal Pentagon propaganda that is most action films) instead of the good old days when half of them were card-carrying Communists.

Both parties are controlled by the bourgeoisie.

Given the secret TPP negotiations, the pursuit of a corporate handout of a health care "reform" package, a half-assed stimulus which was mostly corporate tax cuts, mass surveillance of American civilians, covert and overt attempts at maintaining imperial hegemony, and lack of any coherent plan to implement any of their stated social goals (which are essentially vague platitudes about "helping the middle class" or some shit), I don't see any real value in supporting Obama over the Republicans.

And why does politics have to stay zero-sum? The damn point of my ideology is progressing past bourgeois government.
