Thank God for it. If Ronnie Hawkins hadn't taken Levon Helm to Canada with him, The Band as we know it (and Dylan's best work) would have never happened.

Some of it is pretty good.

"Summertime Blues" by Eddie Cochran is a favorite, as is Buddy Holly's stuff and some of what Elvis was doing at the time.

By and large it's just not very interesting, tbh.  Strictly speaking all genres of music are freedom genres, and I do respect its historical importance, but most genres are more freedom than this one.
