Opinion of oatmeal

What is this "brown sugar" and "butter" nonsense?!  The proper topping for oatmeal is always and forever maple syrup, tree-gunk of the gods:



With maybe some dried cranberries and/or cinnamon if you wanna get fancy.  (And yes it's better if you make it with milk, but that's not a requirement.)

Brown sugar is just a pale imitation, and don't get me wrong I appreciate buttery grits but that just ain't right with oats.
