Can someone give a uh, detailed walkthrough of sorts on how to win with Wallace? I followed the general advice someone gave earlier and can't win. I've tweaked that advice a bit and still can't win. It's driving me nuts.

Yea that game is bugged. I literally spent every campaign stop in NC and went with good old Carolina boy Thurmond as VP. I hate NC.In fact I even lost SC because i threw everything into NC.

I even won North Carolina as Wallace once, and Nixon still squeaked by with 270 EVs. What hurts is that Nixon seems to still win elsewhere as OTL no matter that Wallace does.

1968:

Humphrey: 356 (45.7%)
Nixon: 137 (41.2%)
Wallace: 45 (13.2%)

From memory, I played rather moderate hero, with heavy attacks over the peace sabotage talks and Nixon's reluctance over having debates. Seemingly worked well, as I won the vast majority of swing seats (and there were a crazy amount of these for whatever reason).

Some of those states were within very narrow margins - all of Florida, South Carolina, Oklahoma, Tennessee, Iowa and Kentucky were within 1%.

2012:

Again played somewhat moderate hero. In the end, won the same margin as the RL Obama. IIRC North Carolina and Iowa were the tightest states.

United States presidential election, 2012

Mitt Romney (R-MA) / Paul Ryan (R-WI) - 305 electoral votes; 64,006,458 (49.5%)
Barack Obama (D-IL) / Joe Biden (D-DE) - 233 electoral votes; 64,022,040 (49.5%)

Played as Obama and tried to tailor my campaign message in a way to turnout the liberal base and demonstrate the Republicans' obstructionist tactics.  As you can see it worked in a way, as I was able to win the popular vote (mostly thanks to large margins in CA and IL) while losing just about every single swing state.

Close States (within 5%)Sad

1.  Wisconsin:  0.49%
2.  Colorado:  0.50%
3.  Nevada:  0.55%
4.  Pennsylvania:  1.36%
5.  Virginia:  2.03%
6.  Iowa:  2.72%
7.  Ohio:  3.22%

8.  Minnesota:  3.28%
9.  Delaware:  3.48%

10.  New Hampshire:  3.53%
11.  Florida:  3.56%

Competitive States (within 10%)
12.  North Carolina:  6.36%
13.  New York:  7.18%
14.  Indiana:  8.93%
15.  Michigan:  9.04%
16.  Connecticut:  9.58%

17.  Missouri:  9.60%

I lost 332-206 as Romney on impossible. Despite keeping all my answers the same, I lost by much larger margins in all swing states when I actually campaigned in them, rather than living in Pennsylvania for the entirety of the campaign season.

Gov. William McKinley (R-OH)/Garret Hobart 172 EVs

How in the world did you do that?  I've NEVER been able to win with Romney.  I swear the 2012 game is rigged.

Cheesy

Played with Bob Graham as VP; only lost OH by .2% but it's a really great game overall and I'm excited to be able to try out different scenarios.
