You made Rhode Island closer than Florida?

What I don't get is how Romney would've won Oregon, Washington, Maine, and Delaware without also winning New Mexico, which was much closer IOTL.

It was mainly due to Gary Johnson being a spoiler. Obama won NM with around 48.5% of the vote.

332: Dukakis/Gore(49.7%)
206: Bush/Quayle(48.8%)
Fulani/Other: 0.9%
Ron Paul: 0.6%

In my mind, Ford was Bush's running-mate while Bayh was mine.

I see the game now has the option of splitting up the electoral votes proportionally:

https://www.americanhistoryusa.com/campaign-trail/game/111931

Played as Obama/Biden on normal and won the same states as real life 2012.

Barely eked out a win with Truman on impossible.

Wyoming put me over the top with less than half a percent margin of victory.

The new proportional mode is great for those interested in deadlocking things with Nader or Wallace. Also allows you to deny Lincoln a majority in 1860 without having to win NY or OH.

I can't win with Bush on 1988.  That game is rigged (not to mention oversimplified).

That margin is the same as IRL.  But that's my point.  They make it look like Bush only won because he went negative and attacked Dukakis on everything, and it wasn't that simple.

No, they should have easily won.

The economy was in great shape in 1988, and much better shape then it was in 1980, the evil Soviet Union was falling apart, and the future looked optimistic. Gore like Bush should have won easily in 2000 but he blew it.
