I feel kind of responsible. I posted the game on Tumblr a few weeks ago and it got reblogged by a popular political tumblr and drove a ton of traffic there.

Nice to get confirmation that he checks the e-mail address I'd sent about new election games. Disappointed that this means he ignored it.

Maybe when he re-releases the game (hopefully you can use it without internet access), he'll take some of our suggestions and put it in, like more election years or running as a third party candidate.

I quit playing it some of the states were way too liberal or conservative, and it was also skewed toward Bryan in 1896 and Obama in 2012.

I'm sure that was simply the way you played; I had quite the opposite problem myself. Also: I got my hopes up when you bumped this thread that the game was back. Sad

Skewed towards Bryan?

Did you run as a racist McKinley?  Because I had to practically rape a baby to lose as McKinley.  I mean, I had to actually TRY LOSING in order to lose against Bryan.

Okay guys, so I sent the web admin enough emails that he updated the page.

He is now saying that the game will be back up at the end of June, hopefully.

You can read his updated statement here:
http://www.americanhistoryusa.com/campaign-trail/

Sorry for bumping the thread; I know some of you will see it bumped and think the game is back.

Bump

Another update has come from the website creator:

UPDATE (2014-06-30): I have made good progress and have the game effectively working on my local computer. I just need a few more days for final debugging, and transferring this to the server I will use. Thank you all for your patience, and I apologize again for how long this has been down.

http://www.americanhistoryusa.com/campaign-trail/

This means that the game will come back in a few more days!

The weird thing is I could get through and finish a 25-question game in 1896 as Bryan a couple hours ago (I lost), but I've gotten nothing since then.

I don't quite get how people could prefer this game over President Forever 2008, but I only played it once or twice before it went down. When it gets back up I'll give it another crack.
