Went on 1968, won 7 states as George Wallace, but a narrow loss in NC kept me from actually deadlocking the EC. Then went on 1896 as Bryan and won the popular vote 50%-49%, but came up 18 votes short in the electoral college.

I won 389 electoral votes with Ford/Connally on easy. Only won popular 50-48 though.

I couldn't get AL/LA, but I did get MS.

Played as Nixon/Romney on Impossible. 2nd in both the popular and EV, but did manage to deadlock the college - Humphrey 247, Nixon 214, Wallace 77

Won with Ford/Dole on Normal!
282-256. Basically surrendered the south to Carter and ran a New York focused campaign. It just barely paid off.

Game refused to give me a link for this, but I got this result with Ford/Baker on easy:

443-95 Ford, but still a 2 point loss in AL.

Does anyone know if it's realistically possible to hold everyone under a majority in the EC in 1896? There are three candidates, so it's theoretically possible, but I don't really see a path to doing it - boosting Palmer in the south seems to boost McKinley a lot too.

Carter/Mondal on Normal

Got pretty unlucky with some of the chance questions (debates, etc.), but I managed to get a sizeable win and apparently did better than 96.5% of games with the same candidate/difficulty.

Do note that for Carter it's pretty safe to avoid the debates. Your support takes a small hit, but far less than the hit it will take if Ford does well in the debates.

2000, played as Gore/Leiberman and managed to sabotage myself enough to get a Nader victory in not just D.C., but Rhode Island as well.

You are literally the first person to have done this. I recently checked the stats page for 2000 and the most Nader had ever gotten was 3 EVs, so I'm pretty sure this is a record breaker.

Wow.

Actually, upon checking, no. Someone got Nader to win in MA, too. Select impossible on the 2000 stats page.

Dang.

I want to try to give Utah to Buchanan with Bush; apparently it's possible but I haven't seen it done.

I did it here: http://www.americanhistoryusa.com/campaign-trail/game/47055

The basic technique is to campaign as an ultra liberal, but some of it is luck as well, as you can't get it unless the game gives you questions allowing you to be very anti-gun, pro-single payer, and very pro-choice.

I think there's a bug. I was running as Nixon on impossible and running as far to the left as possible, and ended up with exactly 2 EV.

I got within 5 hundredths of one percent of winning AL as Ford/Connally. If only I could figure out how to actually win the state:

http://www.americanhistoryusa.com/campaign-trail/game/48146

AL Results:

Candidate   Electoral Votes   Popular Votes   Pop. Vote %
---- Jimmy Carter   9   591,673   49.16
---- Gerald Ford   0   591,011   49.11
---- Other Candidates   0   20,879   1.73
---- Eugene McCarthy   0   0   0.00

Absolutely hilarious glitch with Nixon/Goldwater on Impossible. I intentionally bombed the campaign, and Nixon ended up winning zero states. The funny thing is, though, Harry Byrd got 6 EVs and literally one popular vote.

It's not a glitch. Byrd automatically gets 6 AL electors.

He got one popular vote. One.

It's likely just something they put in there to get their code working properly. It comes from the AL-Unpledged section of the results, which is set to always go for Byrd. The reason why he didn't get votes elsewhere is because choosing Goldwater takes Byrd off the ballot for whatever reason.

The next ones they should add:

1860
1876
1916
1948
1988
1992

I understand 1992 and 2008 are under consideration.

2008 as McCain would likely be harder than 1976 as Ford.

Got an exact tie on 2012 Impossible with Obama-Biden. This is the text the game gives you at the end:

Sorry! You have lost in a squeaker.

No candidate achieved a majority of the electoral votes, marking the first time this has happened since 1824. Unfortunately for you, the majority of U.S. states have Republican controlled congressional delegations, and they will cast their votes for Mitt Romney.

The best you can hope for now is to force the Republicans to compromise on key issues. Given the incredibly close nature of the election, you can also set your sights on a political comeback in 2016, if that is what you desire.

Finally, Al Gore and John Kerry have invited you to a backyard barbeque next week. There should be some fantastic food there.

http://www.americanhistoryusa.com/campaign-trail/game/56199

The closest Romney win was in VA - 49.9 to 49.3
