As William McKinley I tried an unorthodox strategy of reaching out to moderates by letting WJB's spirit inhabit my body.

It did not work:

Still, I won ignominious states like...New Hamsphire...Massachusetts...Vermont?

I copied Snowstalker's strategy of running Nixon as a moderate hero with VP Agnew and it worked out pretty well:

Frmr. Alabama Gov. George Wallace/Frmr. Gen. Curtis LeMay: 64 EVs, 14.38% PV

I ran Humphrey as a liberal hero with Kennedy as VP, destroyed Nixon in the debates, exposed his treason and won a decisive victory at the polls:

Frmr. Vice Pres. Richard Nixon/Maryland Gov. Spiro Agnew: 153 EVs (41.13% PV -  30,106,733)

I'm more amazed at the fact you lost the 1896 scenario as McKinley. You literally just have to be not-stupid and it's golden, come on.

I quit playing it some of the states were way too liberal or conservative, and it was also skewed toward Bryan in 1896 and Obama in 2012.

Skewed towards Bryan?

Did you run as a racist McKinley?  Because I had to practically rape a baby to lose as McKinley.  I mean, I had to actually TRY LOSING in order to lose against Bryan.
It is Oldiesfreak...

That's wierd, because it's working on my device perfectly.
The weird thing is I could get through and finish a 25-question game in 1896 as Bryan a couple hours ago (I lost), but I've gotten nothing since then.

IMPOSSIBLE: The Great Commoner Triumphs in '96!

In an election all the experts said was impossible for the Democrats to win, the so-called "Great Commoner", William Jennings Bryan, has done it. Fighting off attacks of radicalism by the McKinley campaign and the splinter, pro-gold National Democratic Party, Bryan and his running-mate, Vice President Adlai Stevenson, triumphed with two forty-three electoral votes and over seven million popular votes.

In the last week of the campaign, Bryan stormed the Midwest, and it paid off. While he failed to capture Vice President Stevenson's home state of Illinois, he did carry the states of Minnesota, Indiana, and Iowa, all of which proved critical to his victory; had any two voted against him, it would have meant certain doom for his campaign and prospects for the Presidency. In any event, this is the final electoral map:

√ Fmr. Nebraska Congress-man William Jennings Bryan (D-NE)/Vice Pres. Adlai Stevenson (D-IL): 243 Electoral Votes, 7,036,256 Popular Votes (50.6%)
Fmr. Ohio Gov. William McKinley (R-OH)/President of the New Jersey Senate Garret Hobart (R-NJ): 204 Electoral Votes, 6,728,317 Popular Votes (48.4%)
Sen. John Palmer (ND-IL)/Fmr. Kentucky Gov. Simon B. Buckner (ND-KY): 0 Electoral Votes, 136,069 Popular Votes (1.0%)

(Difficulty Level: Impossible)

I'm just posting this for the PV difference:

Fmr. Gov. Mitt Romney (R-MA)/Sen. Rob Portman (R-OH): 285 EVs, 64,307,733 PVs (49.6%)
Pres. Barack Obama (D-IL)/Vice Pres. Joe Biden (D-DE): 253 EVs, 64,292,738 PVs (49.5%)

14,995 votes, one of the closest PV victories in American history, second only to Garfield's 1,898-vote victory over Hancock in 1880.

Has anybody managed to throw the election to the House in the 1968 campaign? I put it on easy with Lemay and Thurmond as my VP and am running a super hawkish neo fascist campaign and taking a hard line on desegregation etc. I keep campaigning in NC and I can't for the life of me win any state other than the historical 5 that Wallace won, I can never stop a Nixon victory.

Pick Chandler as your running mate, run hard to the right on Vietnam, desegregation, and other social issues while taking a more moderately conservative tack on economics. This usually gets me a deadlock more often than not.

I have a question. Is it possible for Johnson or Stein to get EVS in 2012? I doubt it, but there is a counter, so it kinda throws me off. Tongue
Almost certainly not. I just ran a campaign where I ran Obama far to the right like he was possessed by George Wallace's ghost and neither Johnson or Stein could crack a full % of the vote. Those counters are probably there just for the sake of being there.
