Greetings Citizens and Denizens,

Since the election is fast approaching, I figured it was past time to work through my neurotic procrastination and open up a space for the promotion and discussion of my campaign!

The theme of my campaign is "Let Freedom Grow!"   We need to unleash, to allow people to create, to participate in improving the lives of themselves and their communities.  The tendency in government can be to control, to believe we have all the answers. But the truth is none of us has all the answers, we must find the answers as we live our lives, as we listen to the experiences of others. We ought to appreciate the wisdom of those who came before us, and also to allow for the wisdom that will be found by those who will come after us.  If we control, if we consolidate power, if we banish freedom for the sake of some program or project, if we squander or spoil the gifts we have been given or the places where we live, then we have done a disservice to ourselves and to our children.

We have instead the chance for a better future in renewing the power of freedom for the people in their lives, where they live, and in the direction of our life as a nation.

The Regions

So, I've been getting a lot of questions about what my position is regarding reforming the regions.  I'll make an attempt to give a general idea of where I stand. Or more accurately, where I hang about, since I'm keeping an open mind on the question.

I love my region and I think we have some great regions in Atlasia. So, I'm not rushing to change them up.  I'd have to be convinced that there would be a new configuration of regions is worth changing in order to support any change.  That's not where I am right now, but I should be clear that it is not something I consider out of the question.

If we are going to embark on regional reorganization, we ought to get the people involved in what the shape is of it.  I don't believe it's enough for just the Senate, or the Governor, or a committee of people who pledged their support for regional reorganization, to be the ones deciding what the new map of our nation would be.  The direct election of delegates from the regions is appropriate for so fundamental a change.   Any constitutional amendment changing the regions should only come into effect with the people's approval of a plan.  That at least is what would make sense to me if we are going ahead with this, though maybe a different process would work as well toward the same ends of fairness and participation.

I hope this helps answer some questions.  Please feel free to post a note and/or query.

I really appreciate the preferences I've been getting so far from across the spectrum. It's going to be a close one.

To all those who voted for me and supported me - thank you so much!  It really looked like I wouldn't make it for a while there - and right out of nowhere I get votes at the last minute - some from unexpected quarters!  I don't know all that everyone did to help me get here, or even who, but I thank all those involved very much.   I do hope to represent you all well in the Senate, and also to build trust with those who gave their votes to the other fine candidates instead.  I'm glad we were able have such an exciting election!
