I have just finished this book. It's one I've been meaning to read since seventh grade, as it was heavily recommended to me, but never assigned in class, likely because the descriptions of the natural landscapes relegated it to "honors" English. I've finally read it at 30. There are a number of excellent themes in here that I don't think can be appreciated too much.

I haven't read the book.  But when I was a kid, in the late '70's, there was a cartoon version of Watership Down that I watched with my brothers.  It was kind of a controversial cartoon back then, as it included lots of violent scenes with animals being killed and badly hurt.  We were obviously too young to appreciate all the lessons and parallelisms in it, so maybe I should read the novel now.

The book (and to a great extent, the film too) cannot be praised enough.
