When I went to school in Ft. Worth, I had a college friend in Hurst who's dad was almost a dead ringer for Dale and his mom was disturbing close to Peggy, and this all predated "King of the Hill".  Hurst, Euless, Bedford, Richardson, Plano, Garland--it's all the same thing.  A vast sea of the same thing.  Still Arlen is someplace with one TV channel (84) and it tried to lure the Dallas Cowboys to move their Preseason camp from Wichita Falls.  That puts it someplace other than the metroplex.

I've only been back twice in the 20+ years since I graduated (really there's no tourist reason to visit), but it doesn't seem to have changed much.  It's a beltway culture, sure you can go to the stockyards in Ft. Worth and pretend your a cowboy or to Greenville Ave in Dallas and be a little hip, but mostly if you live there your always going to something on the beltway.

Toll roads are a legalized form of private industry taxation on the working commuter.

So you prefer taxing everyone regardless of whether or not they use a resource to taxing the people who use the resource so that they understand the true costs of it and make their usage decisions accordingly?

Toll roads don't have to be privatized. That just happens to be the Rick Perry way of doing things.
