My amendment:

1) It's a bill, not an amendment.
2) To be honest, I support your bill but it risks to fail just because of the title.

Yes, but the purpose is this: reduce the abortion.

I understand your goal. But abortion is an explosive issue so this bill could fail just because of his name!

If the name of the bill can cause problems, I can support the change of the name.

To be honest, I quite like this bill. As windjammer has stated, the bill's issue is just the name. By encouraging adoption, we'd be reducing the need for adoption without actually restricting current abortion laws. So, I definitely support this!

I know I am no longer a member, but I have some problems with this bill. 1. Three months is way to long for a mother to decide. It causes potential exacerbated emotional trauma and undue cost on the Hospital. 2. Why 16 years? and what are the future utilizations you speak of?

I personally support adoptions over abortions any day of the week. However, this bill needs to be scrutinized.

2) 16 years is the expected time in the Germany's legislation. The future utilizations? All the possible utilizations...

See that last statements makes me nervous. Some parents who put kids up for adoption may not wish to let child know that they are their biological parents.

I spoke to Cris earlier about this bill, and I am strongly supportive of it. It would be a good way to reduce abortion, and the system is already in use in Germany (with the so called "baby hatches"). I understand GAworth's concerns about the 16 years, but those childs have a right to know who are their parents. At the age of 16 they should be able to take that choice between knowing and not knowing, but keeping the info in store for a longer period of time would probably weaken the purpose of the bill (perhaps we could leave it up to 18 years?).

Does anyone have any sort of estimate on how much it would cost hospitals to take care of all these children cor up to three months?

I agree, this could put undue pressure on Hospitals, especially those in poor rural communities.

Is this the kind of request the GM takes? (Not really sure here)
