Should interracial marriages be allowed?

Since gay marriage is in the news again, and people are once more tossing around slippery slope arguements - let's take a step back as to the previous controversy.

It wasn't that long ago that interracial marriage was frowned upon by many social conservatives.  There were laws against it is some areas of the country, and a few more extreme individuals actually wanted a constitutional ammendment to ban it.

So, has our society evolved since then; or are parts of our nation still living in the dark ages?  What say you?

Like I said before, if it's what they want to do then let them.  The only people they're hurting is themselves, and on a scale of 1-10 of exactly how much their decision personally affects my life, I'd give it a 0.

I guess allowing incestuous couples to procreate opens up to issues of deformed children etc.  But to that I say; evolution will find those children eventually, and sooner or later the problem is solved.

I married out of my race and so did my sister and my brother.  It is well-established that children of interracial marriages generally have better immune response systems.  From a Darwinistic perspective, it makes good sense.  Also, a disproportionately large percentage of my former girlfriends have been non-white, so I suppose it was likely that I would marry a non-white woman. 

I voted (R) yes.  My guess is that my sister would vote (D) yes and my brother would not vote.  But if he were not stoned all the time, he might vote (L) Yes.  I got me some little negro nephews and nieces and some little chink nephews and nieces.  One big happy post-modern family.  Yee haa!

I disagree.  Well, in the context of a vacuum, I'd agree.  But relative to "should people be allowed to marry animals?" and "is opebo a troll?" and "what kind of Jew are you?" I think it ranks as fairly sublime.  That some people voted no, assuming they're serious, is interesting as well, don't you think?  I suppose it's no more assinine than disallowing two men to marry. 

It's a social issue.  I know my sister gets grief for marrying a n, and I get grief for marrying a chink.  I already posted about my gay friend, Steve, and his feelings on the matter.  Of course, at the time I had a vietnamese girlfriend, but I assume he'd feel the same way about the chinese.  But, for the record, the gook chick was as homophobic as Steve was racist.  I think I said that as well.  So, in that case, it really was a two-way street. 

I've said before, I can be friends with straight guys, gay guys, homophobes, racists, white-collar workers, blue-collar workers, fat people, skinny people, Republicans, Democrats, Nazis, Socialists, Libertarians, pretty much anybody except one group:  those who think they have the right to tell folks how to raise their children.

As marriage is a union that people enter, I think the question should be should they be forbidden. Complete idiots with no real desire to commit get married everyday and it is sanctioned. The real part of marriage is the spiritual part, the commitment. Governments just acknowledge that supposed commitment, as they really have no clue as to the people getting married.

I voted yes, interracial marriages should be allowed.  It's not even worth discussing at this point.  I believe in interracial marriage and see nothing wrong with it whatsoever, as long as the parties involved are cognizant of and able to deal with the cultural differences that arise.

I agree.  I've never been one for political correctness, or to issue phoney paeans to "diversity" and all that other garbage that the liberals try to shove down our throats, but this guy is way too much for me.
