PPP: republican primary: Alexander: 46% Carr: 40%
         General election: Alexander: 45% Adams (D): 32%
-------------------------
Honestly, I have the feeling that Alexander will lose his primary. The dem seems relatively decent, but probably no way he wins, it's Tennessee after all.

The shame of it is, aside from illegal immigration, I like Alexander as a Senator.

Huh. With the margin, why didn't PPP do Carr v. Adams? Chances are that's a lot closer than Alexander v. Adams, and could be a possible Dem pickup if Alexander loses.

I can understand primary challenges for McConnell, Graham, etc. but why Cornyn, Cochran, Enzi, and now Alexander?? I'm really getting sick of this bogus nonsense.

Alexander's a moderate, but TN Pubs have usually been moderate dating back to Baker.

It says a lot when people like Senator Alexander are considered "moderates."

Where is this poll? It's not on their Twitter feed and I couldn't find it on their website. Could anyone provide me a link?

And Alexander was one of the few senate Pubs who voted for Ryan-Murray's budget.

And in 2012, Lamar Alexander was the 63th most liberal senator, or the 10th most liberal senator
EDIT: According to National Journal

Hopefully, this might convince Joe Brown to file before the April deadline. If Sen. Alexander only has a 13 point lead over a completely unknown Democratic candidate, then imagine what his poll numbers must be against a nationally known TV judge or how well he would do against a non-incumbent being endorsed by the Tea Party.

This is winnable for Democrats, but like Mississippi, 1) The Tea Partier would have to win the primary and 2) A strong Democrat would need to file to run in order to stand a shot at either or.

Don't delude yourselves. We aren't winning TN next year with a liberal Harold Ford Jr. in the Presidency and facing a popular senator endorsed by almost every TN Congressperson. This poll may even hurt our chances elsewhere: democrats, if you are reading this, please, DON'T waste money in Tennessee, the state just above (KY) looks waaaaaay more interesting Smiley

Alexander is the immigration bill, just like Graham. Those two are the only Aye Republicans up in 2014.

Don't forget Dr Frist enthusiastic support alongside Bob Dole on obamacare. And Fred Thompson speech on his support at RNC for moderate John Mc Cain.

The biggest problem for Alexander is that he is only facing one opponent.

Corker and Haslaam got in via 40-30-30 primaries in which the Conservative vote was split, typically along East-West lines.

Alexander thus could be in more danger.
