The sponsor has 24 hours to start advocating for this.

Also, what did the Smith and Hatch acts do exactly?

The Smith Act sets criminal penalties for advocating the overthrow of the U.S. government and requires all non-citizen adults to register with the government. I find it bizarre that a nation that prides itself on being the result of a rebellion against tyranny should silence those who advocate radical change to the existing governing structure. It is a matter of freedom of conscience and freedom of opinion. If I want to say that the government of Atlasia should be overthrown, I should be able to do so without being questioned extensively by the FBI.

The Hatch Act prevents federal employees from engaging in political activity. Again, I think this is an unconscionable breach of freedom of speech and conscience that should be ruled out in the interests of maintaining Atlasia as an open and democratic society.

I think this has my support. Freedom of Speech should be damn close to absolute.

We might as well. There's not much that can be added on this bill.

I ask unanimous consent to waive the cloture and minimum debate times so as to proceed immediately to a final vote. Senators have 24 hours to object.

I worry though that having federal employees so engage, that it may lead to corruption.

As for the registering non-citizens, I don't have much issue with the government tracking who is entering into the country.
