Anyway, tough one. Italy is where my heart lies, it's the home of my ancestors and of a wonderful people in many ways. I feel no such emotional attachment to France. On the other hand, it is horribly run and plagued by all sorts of social problems of all sorts which don't exist in France. In terms of living standards, France is clearly way ahead. So, it depends.

Italy undoubtedly. Italy has more extensive Roman remains, more interesting culture, better cuisine and nicer people. The political scene is a bit dodgy, but then French political history is hardly a shining example of honesty, integrity, probity and morality, is it?
