One would think that the BBC would have at least the good sense to insert "claims to" before "Rejects use of violence and supports democratic principles".

Yeah, al-Azhar University is basically the Middle Eastern Muslim equivalent of Liberty University. It's a Horrible School but that doesn't mean people should just burn the place down.
