Now that I think of it, it may be an April Fools joke.

I hope it isn't, that would be marvelous!

Banned forumite "Teddy" announced on Twitter he is running for mayor.  Hasn't registered yet, but I believe it, as he's run for political office twice before.

Why was he banned?

On a chat site. Teddy has mental issues, but is generally pretty harmless. He ran for the NDP provincially in PEI and has run for city council in Toronto.

Ottawa's most left wing councillor, Diane Holmes is retiring, even though she already declared as a candidate. Sad to see her go, but she was a little to NIMBY for my taste (I held my nose and voted for her when I lived in her ward in 2010). She was facing a lot of credible candidates already.  She has endorsed NDPer Catherine McKenney who has just entered the race.

Perhaps Ontario should introduce signature requirements.

There is currently 52 candidates who filled for Toronto mayorship.

Nothing new, Toronto always gets a huge number of candidates for mayor.

Interesting that Toronto has 3 times the population of Ottawa, yet Ottawa has just 2 candidates so far.

Close race in Mississauga:

Steve Mahoney: 27
Bonnie Crombie: 25
Don't know: 48 (probably mostly conservatives who can't decide between two Liberals)

Mahoney leads with Tories & Greens, while Crombie leads with Liberals & NDPers

Recordings are starting to leak. Complaints about Renata and extremely lewd comments about Stintz. Recorded in a bar on Monday.

Yes, do you have evidence to suggest otherwise?

There is a Brampton poll:

39% - Linda Jeffrey (former, just, OLP MPP, resigned to run)
26% - John Sanderson (Councillor)
18% - Susan Fennell (Incumbent, a number of spending controversies around her, also Canada's highest paid mayor I believe, 200K+)
17% - Don't know

Reaction from Horwath: takes courage to deal w/health issues, wishes him and his family well. Chow will not be releasing a statement tonight. No word on Tory.
