We've had a poll like this before, but Schatz has a year in the Senate under his belt now.

I'm sticking with Hanabusa.

Hanabusa is fairly right-wing and Schatz hasn't done anything wrong.

Schatz, because he's more progressive and in a place like Hawaii, you can go with the most progressive person possible and still win. Also, I don't like dead men picking Senators.

If I lived in Hawaii I'd vote for Schatz, but I'm almost certain that Hanabusa will win.

Which is really a shame because a Hanabusa win is tantamount to the Aloha State shooting itself in the foot when it comes to seniority in the Senate; oh well, I guess that means I shouldn't complain - more relative seniority for the mainland.

Schatz is more progressive and isn’t running because a dead guy told him to.

This. I suppose I could support Hanabusa if her campaign wasn't so awful.

In a state like Hawaii, I want the most liberal/progressive Democrat in the general election. In this case, it seems like that would be Schatz.

Schatz supporters seem to think he's entitled to win because he's an appointed incumbent, Hanabusa supporters seem to think she's entitled to win because Inouye wanted her to succeed him. I don't like either of them, but I'd prefer Schatz I guess.

Schatz seems like a good person.  Hanabusa is just a politician's politician, reminds me of HRC's extraordinarily arrogantly entitled run for the presidential nomination in 2008.

I don't support Schatz because he's an incumbent, I support him because he seems to be more progressive on most issues, and younger, which helps Hawaii with seniority.

Schatz.

There is literally no rational reason to support Hanabusa (and when I say literally, I mean literally).

Hanabusa; the difference between them is minimal, and I would feel better backing Inouye's legacy. Might've supported Schatz otherwise; he strikes me both as a nicer person and as perhaps marginally likelier to lose to Djou in the general election.

I would feel better backing Inouye's legacy.

Why?  He's dead.  He doesn't care; he is incapable of doing so.
