On the one hand, the US should really just gut the Patriot Act and civil authoritarian laws like it, but on the other hand, I understand that if they let Snowden get away with it, the US's secrets (some of which should stay secret) will be sold, tosses away, and otherwise revealed. So I both disapprove and am okay with this action.

Clemency? For all the whistles, he's blown he ought to be given a medal. But of course he'll be denied. We're going to maintain the pretext of legality no matter how obvious it is the emperor has no clothes.

I still have yet to hear anyone explain how Snowden did anything wrong. And he most certainly did not make America more vulnerable to terrorist attacks with how low tech al-Qaeda communication is.
