He's 54, Governor of Indiana since 2013, Congressman from 2001-2013, Chairman of the House Republican Conference from 2009 to 2011. From the Midwest, an area that has potential for new GOP support.

I doubt he'll run for president two and a half years into his first term. If the GOP lose in 2016, he could run 2020.

In 2012, Romney won Indiana by 10.20%

Mike Pence was elected Governor by 3.2%.

I don't think the party wants a guy who ran so badly behind Romney.

Maybe in 2024, but not in 2016.

There's no room for him. Too many governors with similar resumes are already running. Maybe in 2020 or 2024.

Yeah, given he's only in his first term, he'll probably wait. I think he runs eventually (FWIW he was keen on running in 2012 but wanted some executive experience first, and even then he was talking about national issues over local ones), but I dunno if 2016 is his cycle.

He is up for reelection in 2016, but he is going to be candidate for President in 2020 or 2024. I'm almost positive about that.

I know he wanted to run for President in 2012, but was talked into running for Governor (to use as a launching pad) instead. But I think 2016 will be too early, but he's clearly ambitious and won't care how "crowded" the field might seem to be. (And really, who knows who's really going to run? People thought Daniels, Barbour, Huckabee and Christie would in 2012, among others, and didn't think Santorum or Cain would be taken seriously if they did).

He has already announced he is running for reelection in 2016. He's out as a Presidential contender.

I'd say Mr. Pence should have been born ten years earlier. He looks like an "old white guy" caricature of the Republican Party. He doesn't have much of an appeal. His resume isn't unique and he's just sort of a bland candidate.

I do really like his resume. I think the ideal training for President would be a combination of Executive position and Washington experience, and a term as big state Governor plus a stint at congressional leadership fits pretty well.

However, I don't think there are many voters who would support him in a General Election who wouldn't do the same with Chris Christie, Paul Ryan, Marco Rubio or Scott Walker.

I really wish he ran for Senate in 2010. He would have been a great 2016 candidate.

Too much in the political background to be relevant to the 2016 Presidential election unless chosen as a VP candidate as a compromise among GOP factions.

He's boring and doesn't seem to have much charisma. Basically.

He's a right-wing hack, which would help him in the primaries but hurt him in the general.
