New York (CNN) -- Liz Cheney, whose upstart bid to unseat Wyoming Sen. Mike Enzi sparked a round of warfare in the Republican Party and even within her own family, is dropping out of the Senate primary, sources told CNN late Sunday.

She had no reason to go and try to run for Senate, and her life will forever be damaged because of this decision. Good for everyone except for the Wyoming Democratic Party.

Maybe she's going for VA-10 now instead.

Ughhhhhhhhhhh

Not that she actually would have beat Enzi, but now our #1 national comedy race is gone. Sad   I guess Cornyn vs. Stockman gets to take it's place. Tongue

And with this announcement then, there's nothing important to watch at all from Wyoming that's worth our time this election. Mead will run and easily win re-election as Governor, Lummis will win re-election to the House, and Enzi will pull off an even easier win in the Senate.

As I understand it, it was Senator Enzi who tried to align himself with the Tea Party (getting the aid of Rand Paul and such), while Cheney ran, or tried to run, as someone associated with the establishment wing. So I'm not sure you should be celebrating in that case...

Apparently her daughter was diagnosed with diabetes.  Ugh... I wouldn't wish that on anyone.

This reminds of those people who were chearing in 2012 when they heard that John Mica had beat back a tea party challenger, until they realized the guy had previously been rated as one of the most Conservative members of the House.

Enzi is like seventh or sixth most Conservative member of the Senate. But sure, Pop the fing champagne corks moderates and declare victory anyway. Tongue Wrap your arms around them all, no matter how much they are in some big business guy's pocket, bought off by oil money or god knows what else. If they's not tea party that is all that matters now. (I am not talking about Wyoming here, I like Enzi and supported him from the beginning against Liz).

I refuse to be a part of this herd, just like I refused in 2010 for that one and one before that. It doesn't matter who they are alligned with or where there base of support is. I have seen just as many establishment types blow seats as tea parties in the last seven years to know this all too well.

Good riddance with this bitch. How is she going to face the voters of VA-10 after running in Wyoming earlier in the year.

Had to do with her kids' health, but even without that she won't have stuck around to get walloped 2-1 this summer.

Apparently her daughter was diagnosed with diabetes.  Ugh... I wouldn't wish that on anyone.

No disrespect intended to her daughter, but that is one of the most pathetic excuses for a "family health emergency" I have ever heard. If you drop out of a race for "health reasons" that do not involve acute trauma or something that would impair you from holding office (i.e. Alzheimer's), you're looking for a cheap way to cover your @$$. Rick Santorum's severely disabled daughter who requires constant care didn't stop him from serving in the Senate and running for president. Are we seriously supposed to believe Liz has to be there 24/7 to give her daughter insulin shots or whatever?

This woman ought to be ashamed of herself. If she was so concerned about her children, she wouldn't have moved them across the country to a state they've basically never lived in, trotted them around like prize piglets in campaign ads and proceeded to tear apart her extended family in an attempt to out-bigot her opponent.

No. All Cheney's behavoir (with her attempts to outconservative already conservative Enzi) during campaign was typical for "tea party types" of "2010 variety". Enzi is, surely, very conservative, but "normal Wyoming conservative", not an "angry loudspeaker"

Although I wish her and her daughter well, we all know this wouldn't have caused her to drop out if she was 40 points ahead instead of 40 points behind.

Is there even such a thing?
