Yawn.  Unless they get this into a form that would meet the Hastert rule in the House, this is going nowhere.  Aren't there some more backlogged nominations they can vote on?

Most Republicans voted to filibuster as usual, including some Republicans that some dumbs think are moderates (Kirk, Hoeven, McCain, Shelby, and so on)

"Must be paid for" is such garbage. Some Republicans probably think that the Bush tax cuts paid for the $1 trillion Iraq war.

Kirk seems to have realized that he is an one-termer. He doesn't even try to moderate his record.

He probably realizes the media will continue to call him a moderate Republican no matter what he does.

Such is the nature of the Overton Window. A quarter of the country thinks that the president who supports charter schools and corporate tax cuts is a communist dictator, after all.

True. Hell, even Kelly Ayotte has somehow gotten a reputation as a "moderate" (presumably the media concludes that as a woman and north-easterner, she must be one).

The same quarter of the country who voted for Mr. Burns/Old Man Potter last year, more or less?

Some people never learn. I fail to understand how they think that having less money will solve all of their problems.

Kelly Ayotte would have been a perfect fit to represent New Hampshire 20 years ago. She's less so today.

This is a nice development.  Well unless the whole lot of em take that aid to their local dealer behind the CVS and buy some crack fo' they baby mama; fortunately we live in the real world and this will go to helping many thousands of families get by in hard times.
